    Bazan at Bowery Ballrom

by Legoyoego on 6/24/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Bazan engaged the audience with his lyrics and banter. The trio blew the doors off the Ballroom with a great, fast paced electric set. The Ballrom, as always, is a great place to see and hear a band.

    Great set, lousy venue!

by spookytapes on 6/13/11The Basement - Columbus

David Bazan was great, had a lot of energy, the band sounded tight. All around great set. "The Basement" on the other hand is a fake dive bar that only sells Anheuser Busch products, everything is overpriced, and worst of all, the overall layout of the place makes no sense. Unless you get a spot front and center, this place has the worst sight lines of any club I've ever been to. Why they put the bar right where people would want to be standing to see the band rather than the opposite side, where there is nothing, is beyond me; especially since this place seems to be fairly recently built (no more than 10 years old, I'd imagine) and the fact that angled viewpoints are totally ruled out due to the huge concrete supports down the middle of the room (blocking the half of the room where the band is playing unless you get a spot in the small area between the band and the bar). Again, though, I managed to score a decent spot for DB's set, which was very good. 4 star set. Doubt I would return to this venue though unless there was someone else that I absolutely couldn't miss. 1 star venue.

    Bazan did not disappoint!

by madsy on 6/13/11The Basement - Columbus

This is my 2nd time seeing David Bazan in concert, and he was just as great this time as the first. For a 3 piece band, he and his crew created a tremendous amount of sound and every song sounded powerful. Bazan played a great mix of old and new. He seems to have a knack for choosing great opening acts--each time I have seen him I have been very impressed with the first act. At this show that act was Cotton Jones. We showed up during their set, and they were so good that I'm bummed we were late! This was a fantastic show!!

    A Wonderful Songwriter and Performer

by gygu on 4/2/11The Turf Club - St. Paul

I've seen Dave many times live. Last time was at the Turf Club in St. Paul, MN. His band was quite tight and Dave's voice sounded prime. If you are planning on seeing him live, familiarize your self with his records, it will enhance your experience greatly.

Great show, however I had to leave halfway through Bazan's set.

what made the concert for me unforgettable was 'the head and the heart'...their style is fresh and so different from any other group i've heard lately....their energy on stage is contagious and their lyrics i find are moving and somewhat poetic...hope they perfrom locally again!!

The Head and The Heart was amazing

by froggy21 on 11/29/10Showbox at the Market - Seattle

Damien Jurado was incredible! He has a haunting old-timey voice. The Head and The Heart stole the show however. Every song was amazing and their energy was infectious. I had the opportunity to talk with a few of them and they were so nice. They took time with each person who approached them. David Bazan was forgettable in comparison.
