Daughter
by Assata54 on 7/5/14Terminal 5 - NYCThis is the best concert I ever went to. The energy was incredible. I go to many concerts and this is by far the best I've ever been to; it was a year ago and I'm still asking about it.

DAUGHTER IN CONCERT:
London-based indie folksters Daughter are quickly making headlines with their beautifully ambient music and cool hipster vibe. The group's low-key tunes tug on fans’ heartstrings as singer Elena Tonra leads with her strikingly emotive voice backed by a simple guitar strum and lovely atmospherics. On their highly anticipated UK and European tour, the humble performers will play hits such as “Youth” and “Landfill” and surely win over countless new fans.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Starting as a solo project by songstress Elena Tonra, Daughter truly took shape in 2010 when Tonra caught the attention of guitarist Igor Haefeli who was captivated by her solo work and asked to join the band. They added drummer Remi Aguilella for the recording of their EPs The Wild Youth and His Young Heart, and they've been playing as a trio ever since. With the success of their recorded music came a number of live gigs – they’ve appeared at festivals like Austin's SXSW and spent time touring around the world alongside The National and Ben Howard. They broke out with 2013's If You Leave, a sparkling debut that received rave reviews from a number of critics and peaked at No. 4 on the UK Indie chart. Hot off the heels of Coachella 2014, Daughter will have fans in awe as they hit the road for their UK and European tour.

"True talent. The band sounds just as good live, if not better, than their album. They are literally the most humble performers, which just makes their sound more worthwhile... so so great."
"Daughter sounds even better live! They presented raw talent and their live show was definitely worth it!"

It was a good concert and the venue was pretty great.
Great Opening Act (Bear's End)...went a little long but I was probably just antsy to see Daughter. :-). They were brilliant: simple, understated but powerful performance. Good acoustics though Elena "kissed the mic", at times, so hard to make out words. I wish they would have performed "Medicine"...that was disappointing. Had a wonderful time for a great price - wow!
I have never been to a concert and cried tears of happiness. Terminal 5 was the perfect venue for a concert like this. I will see Daughter over and over again, as long as they're touring. When they left the stage to end the concert, the audience applauded and screamed for 20 minutes... I have never experienced anything like that. So beautiful and so perfect. I recommend a Daughter concert to anyone.
At one point in the show i just remember tuning around to my friend and we both had our jaws on the floor. The music was soul shatteringly good. Bear's Den is made up of the greatest 3 men ever with the sickest beards and Daughter was adorable and amazing as usual.
Beautiful set (lights, sound, location, everything!) The opening band very much complimented Daughter's style of music, plus their beards were kickass! BUT: They didn't come out until nearly 10pm and made the audience wait over an hour between the opening act and the main act.
She was great but i'd wish we she would speak up when she talks , but they were very enetertaining!
Elena was very nervous, it was so cute, but they did an amazing job!! The whole show was so intimate and relaxed and they were so humble to be playing in NYC. They did an encore for their cover of Daft Punk's Get Lucky :) Bear's Den did a great job opening!
Even though I am not the biggest fan of Daughter I went because of my GF. She said it was amazing and everything was just perfect. Lighting was incredible and the show was just overall very deep. The only downfall that I personally had was she would whisper a lot and it made her hard to understand when she was trying to talk to the crowd. Other than that it was amazing.
True talent. The band sounds just as good live, if not better, than their album. They are literally the most humble performers, which just makes their sound more worthwhile. You float in their music. So so great.
I loved how the venue was- it felt really chill and really united with the other peeps. It was just an amazing concert- and Bears Den and Daughter were such an amazing complimentary group. It . Was. Fantastic.
Daughter is so awkward. But so cute. Like a lot of their fans.
Truly amazing! Such a heart felt performance. Felt every word. Beautiful.
Daughter band was incredible. I loved the energy. The leader singer has the most beautiful voice.
Daughter sounds even better live! They presented raw talent and their live show was definitely worth it!
Great band and nice venue. Drinks were affordable-ish. Parking is somewhat of a hassle and the early show times coincide with rush hour
Daughter was phenomenal in concert! We were very close to the stage and could see everyone easily. Her voice was even better live and she didn't miss a single note. She is a must-see live show.
Daughter was unbelievable. The whole group was amazing and they sounded just like they do on the album. They were very kind and sweet. Overall it was perfection.
It was a very intimate concert. You could feel close to the band, they were very approachable. Their music is fantastic, and hearing them play live was a whole new experience.
The opening act and the main act were a fantastic combo! Loved it!
