Darlene Love on Tour

A singer of some of the biggest hits in the history of American popular music, Darlene Love can now claim to have a name that's as familiar as her voice. Her appearance in the Oscar-winning 2013 documentary 20 Feet From Stardom helped launch an extraordinary new phase in her five-decade career. Since the late 1950s, she has sung lead on hits such as the Crystals' "He's a Rebel" and "He's Sure the Boy I Love" and backup on classics like the Ronettes' "Baby, I Love You." Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, the Beach Boys and Sam Cooke were just a few of the artists who benefited greatly from her power and versatility as a vocalist. Through the ‘80s and ‘90s, famous fans like Steven Van Zandt, Bette Midler and David Letterman would give Love more chances to take center stage. But it wasn't until the success of 20 Feet From Stardom that Love truly received the recognition she long deserved. Now a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Love and her nine-piece backing band show audiences all that she can do with energetic performances of songs from throughout her career.

Darlene Love in Concert

The woman originally known as Darlene Wright was a teenager in Los Angeles when she began her music career. She caught the ear of Phil Spector while singing in a girl group called the Blossoms and became a prominent singer in the producer's array of talents. Besides singing lead vocals on "He's a Rebel" and other hits by the Crystals, she'd be prominently featured in songs by fellow Spector acts the Ronettes. She also performed "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" on the iconic 1963 holiday album A Christmas Gift for You From Phil Spector. Her voice would appear on hits by artists as diverse as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Shelley Fabares.

After taking time to raise her family, she returned to music in the ‘80s. Highlights from this time include performing in the Broadway musical Leader of the Pack and joining U2 for the Irish band's 1987 version of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)." Her career as an actress also took flight after she made the first of four appearances in the Lethal Weapon movie franchise.

In 2011, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Two years later, she gained wider recognition when she appeared in 20 Feet From Stardom, the Oscar-winning documentary about some of music's most underappreciated vocalists. The attention led to the 2015 release of Introducing Darlene Love, her very first solo album after nearly 50 years in music.

If you're scared of COVID STAY HOME !

by KR on 12/27/21Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Darlene and her crew was amazing ! Fantastic !!!! Love her !!!!!!! Was horrified by old man behind me on aisle seat who sat with mask on and fingers in both his ears. I then noticed his wife got usher to remind a mature man in front us to wear his mask . Which he was ! It was below his nose for a brief moment to take a sip of his drink. Worse then was the usher received a cash tip from the Gustapo behind me aka the old mans wife. If I were Darlene Love and had to sing and move and be merry only to see this scrooge....I would have been disappointed. Then the old man left maybe an hour into show anyway ! Food selections are minimal but drinks were priced reasonable. The bathroom attendant was kind and kept everything sparkling.

    Loved Love!

by John R on 12/25/21Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Once called a force of nature, after all these years, Darlene Love today remains nothing less. Just a fantastic concert that exceeded my highest expectations. Everything about the performance was amazing, from the Bergen Performing Arts Center, to the staging, the sound (perfect), the band (one cohensive, very talented unit), and the set choices. Unlike some longtime artists, Ms. Love included all of her early hits and what hits they were, from "He's A Rebel" to "Da Doo Run Run" to "Wait To My Bobby Comes Home". And, lest not forget those iconic Darlene Love Christmas songs, all sung with exuberance and in great voice. Wow! Wow! Wow! What a gift! Can't wait to see her again next year and every year she chooses to share the love.

    Amazing energy for 80!

by Jen on 12/25/21Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Darlene Love’s high energy and AMAZING voice set the tone for the show. She sang some oldies, gospel and of course Christmas 🎄 She’s inspiring at 80 with leather pants and high heels! The only thing missing were some Christmas decorations in the background or on stage. That would have made the show perfect.

A Christmas Concert Truly Filled With Love!

by FanOfFab4 on 12/25/21Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

I could not think of a better way to spend Christmas week than a night with the music of Darlene Love! She has been ending her holiday tours in NJ for years and always saves the best for last! The show took us on a ride of her life long journey with hit records and Christmas classics and she gave us some great behind the scenes insights into her life behind the mic and in front of the cameras. The end of the show featured her 1963 Christmas classic "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) and when it was over she promised to "see you again next year!" - I believe this young at heart 80 year old legend!! I will be there next year when she is.... Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and "Lots of Love"

    Still magnificant!

    by R. L. on 12/21/21Town Hall - New York

Darlene Love is an absolute crowd pleaser. Her amazing voice is still as strong as ever at the age of 80! Singing the Christmas classics she recorded 57 years ago, you would never know that nearly 6 decades have passed. Backed up by a terrific band, Ms. Love gave us a history lesson of her music portfolio that kept a smile on the faces of everyone in attendance. A 5-star show perfect for the holiday season.

Darlene Love is still the greatest!

by Rob on 12/21/21Town Hall - New York

Darlene Love’s yearly Christmas show - “Love For The Holidays” is always a treat and she never disappoints! She is an integral part of the 60’s Phil Spector hit making phenomenon and her voice is one of the greatest in the history of rock and roll. She looks and sounds amazing - backed by a terrific band and back-up singers - and her hit songs like “He’s a Rebel”, “Today I Met the Boy I’m Going to Marry and her Christmas classic, “Christmas Baby Please Come Home” cement her legacy as a well deserved inductee in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! We see her every year and she always gives a fabulous show - go and see her!
