Darlene Love on Tour

A singer of some of the biggest hits in the history of American popular music, Darlene Love can now claim to have a name that's as familiar as her voice. Her appearance in the Oscar-winning 2013 documentary 20 Feet From Stardom helped launch an extraordinary new phase in her five-decade career. Since the late 1950s, she has sung lead on hits such as the Crystals' "He's a Rebel" and "He's Sure the Boy I Love" and backup on classics like the Ronettes' "Baby, I Love You." Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, the Beach Boys and Sam Cooke were just a few of the artists who benefited greatly from her power and versatility as a vocalist. Through the ‘80s and ‘90s, famous fans like Steven Van Zandt, Bette Midler and David Letterman would give Love more chances to take center stage. But it wasn't until the success of 20 Feet From Stardom that Love truly received the recognition she long deserved. Now a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Love and her nine-piece backing band show audiences all that she can do with energetic performances of songs from throughout her career.

Darlene Love in Concert

The woman originally known as Darlene Wright was a teenager in Los Angeles when she began her music career. She caught the ear of Phil Spector while singing in a girl group called the Blossoms and became a prominent singer in the producer's array of talents. Besides singing lead vocals on "He's a Rebel" and other hits by the Crystals, she'd be prominently featured in songs by fellow Spector acts the Ronettes. She also performed "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" on the iconic 1963 holiday album A Christmas Gift for You From Phil Spector. Her voice would appear on hits by artists as diverse as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Shelley Fabares.

After taking time to raise her family, she returned to music in the ‘80s. Highlights from this time include performing in the Broadway musical Leader of the Pack and joining U2 for the Irish band's 1987 version of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)." Her career as an actress also took flight after she made the first of four appearances in the Lethal Weapon movie franchise.

In 2011, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Two years later, she gained wider recognition when she appeared in 20 Feet From Stardom, the Oscar-winning documentary about some of music's most underappreciated vocalists. The attention led to the 2015 release of Introducing Darlene Love, her very first solo album after nearly 50 years in music.

Darlene Love was absolutely wonderful ! What a show! She hasn"t lost a beat even though the night of the show was her 70th birthday!!! She looks great, she sounds great and the orchestra was terrific!! Her guest on the show was her own sister, Edna Wright and the HoneyCone who had their own string of hits . Of course the finale was "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home" ! Awesome show . I'm very glad I went.

by JJMII on 12/20/11BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - Englewood

This was my second time seeing Darlene...if possible, even better than last year. All the classics are there and then some...getting to see her sing some extras..."Ain't No Mountain High Enough"..."You're all I Need to get By"..."I know where I've been" from hairspray...there's NOTHING you don't get. She's is an amazing treasure who should not be missed! The greatest voice of our time which through the years has only gotten stronger and better.

    Darlene's still the best!

by VinceTopgun on 12/19/11BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - Englewood

Been seeing Darlene's Christmas show for a number of years and they just get better and better. She always has a surprise or two for us. It felt like family. Even at --yrs old she blows the others away. I go to hear the Specter era stuff but most of her performance is non Specter and spectacular. Darlene is love! We even got to see and hear her sister strut her stuff. As Letterman says, " Christmas doesn't begin until Darlene sings Christmas ( Baby Please Come Home".

    Darlene Love is Amazing!

by mick24 on 12/19/11BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - Englewood

We attend this concert every year and Darlene just keeps getting better and better - if that's possible. She's very entertaining and can still belt out her songs as if she were many years younger. It wouldn't be like the holiday season without attending her concert. We're also looking forward to her annual pre-Christmas appearance on David Letterman - always a stand and cheer moment.

    darlene love christmas concert

by alienforce on 12/19/11BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - Englewood

ms love started out off key, but tone and strength improved in second half of show. Band, esp percussion and organ/piano outstanding. Bringing on her sister was wonderful and she also rocked. Darlene's duet w gentleman in chorus was marred by poor amplification. Also want to note that we had especially rude people seated nearby who were drunk (liquor inn lobby bar) who were allowed to take their drinks to their balcony seats; had to ask them repeatedly to stop loud singing, clapping, cat calling, etc.

by Camell on 12/19/11BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - Englewood

This was our second year in a row seeing Darlene Love's "Love for the Holidays" concert. It was non-stop entertainment, singalong, dancing in the aisles, FUN! We will keep going as long as she keeps singing. If you get a chance to see this "Hall of Fame" artist, do it!

    take by surprise

by franco45 on 12/13/11B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

i knew she had a powerhouse voice and have never seen her live before. however i was blown away by every aspect of her performance-vocally moving and very generous personality. she really connects with the audience and everything she does is for her fans. not at dishonest moment. her special guest was her younger sister from the 70's soul group honey cone. she sang her hits and some more and joined her sister for a rockin duet. it was a christmas concert and mercifully she sang few xmas songs but put a great spin on all of them
