Darlene Love on Tour

A singer of some of the biggest hits in the history of American popular music, Darlene Love can now claim to have a name that's as familiar as her voice. Her appearance in the Oscar-winning 2013 documentary 20 Feet From Stardom helped launch an extraordinary new phase in her five-decade career. Since the late 1950s, she has sung lead on hits such as the Crystals' "He's a Rebel" and "He's Sure the Boy I Love" and backup on classics like the Ronettes' "Baby, I Love You." Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, the Beach Boys and Sam Cooke were just a few of the artists who benefited greatly from her power and versatility as a vocalist. Through the ‘80s and ‘90s, famous fans like Steven Van Zandt, Bette Midler and David Letterman would give Love more chances to take center stage. But it wasn't until the success of 20 Feet From Stardom that Love truly received the recognition she long deserved. Now a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Love and her nine-piece backing band show audiences all that she can do with energetic performances of songs from throughout her career.

Darlene Love in Concert

The woman originally known as Darlene Wright was a teenager in Los Angeles when she began her music career. She caught the ear of Phil Spector while singing in a girl group called the Blossoms and became a prominent singer in the producer's array of talents. Besides singing lead vocals on "He's a Rebel" and other hits by the Crystals, she'd be prominently featured in songs by fellow Spector acts the Ronettes. She also performed "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" on the iconic 1963 holiday album A Christmas Gift for You From Phil Spector. Her voice would appear on hits by artists as diverse as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Shelley Fabares.

After taking time to raise her family, she returned to music in the ‘80s. Highlights from this time include performing in the Broadway musical Leader of the Pack and joining U2 for the Irish band's 1987 version of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)." Her career as an actress also took flight after she made the first of four appearances in the Lethal Weapon movie franchise.

In 2011, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Two years later, she gained wider recognition when she appeared in 20 Feet From Stardom, the Oscar-winning documentary about some of music's most underappreciated vocalists. The attention led to the 2015 release of Introducing Darlene Love, her very first solo album after nearly 50 years in music.

Darlene Love's voice is like fine wine, it gets better with age. Her show was stellar and I can't wait to see her in 2023. There is only one word to describe her performance and that is AMAZING. She certainly knows how to start off the holiday season.

Don't Miss One of Her Performances

by Fivegeees on 12/19/22St. George Theatre - Staten Island

I have been taking my Mom to see various artists that have been performing that were either big in the 1950s or got their start around that time. I have seen quite a few of them and the performances were good. However, with Darlene Love you are going to get much more than you expect. Her singing would put some of today's artists to shame. The strength in her voice was unbelievable and her agility, moving around the stage on her stiletto heels was truly a site to see. She sounded just as good if not better than her records recorded over 60 years ago.

    Christmas Show

by Verified Attendee on 12/18/22St. George Theatre - Staten Island

We, (couple) throughly enjoyed the show! And it took us two hours in traffic to get there. Darlene’s voice is still amazingly strong, especially for her years. It was so upbeat and entertaining that it had us swaying in our seats most of the time. We highly recommend seeing this show!

    Boundless energy!!!

by Mike M. on 12/18/22St. George Theatre - Staten Island

My wife and I were shocked by the power and energy Darlene Love showed on stage. She performed like she was in her 30's, not her 80's!!!! The show was terrific. We were thrilled to see a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame still performing as she did in the 60's, while fronting all the girl groups in her prime.

An absolutely delightfully engaging & uplifting concert

by John R on 12/14/22Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - Bethel

Don't be deceived by Ms. Love's age, unless you are comparing her to fine wine, as she is as full of life and gusto as any performer half her age. Still possessed of the powerful and distinctive voice she has always been known for, Darlene views her talent as a gift to be appreciatedand and shared. In fact, sharing the "love" is a hallmark of her concerts. And on what was a snowy night at Bethel Woods, that love permeated the room and was enthusiastically received and returned. Widely remembered for her earlier '60s hits, but also for her timeless holiday tunes, she makes the magic of Christmas something to be savored the year long. Again, it was one of the most exhiliarating and gleefully joyful concerts I have ever attended.
