The backstage VIP experience was worth the entire show. Meeting Lee Turner and Mike Kelly and others was priceless. Learning more of the logistics to produce a flawless show was incredible.
The meet and greet are usually a highlight. I didn’t sense he was up for it this time.
The VIP lounge was special with photo spots, games, haircuts, henna tattoos, no lines at the bars, and strong pours!🤠
The event bathrooms were a great perk with the backstage VIP wristband. Clean and accessible, allowed for a few more drinks than normal, because it was not a terrible port o potty experience . IYKYK
We were under cover (20x20) tent for the opening band as it was a dour-pour of rain and lightning. We were worried at this point he might cancel the concert. I felt bad for those in their seats already as they had no place to take cover, and probably made the DR part of the concert less enjoyable.(?) We got a trash bag from an attendant to cover up in!!😲
My seats were stage center, fourth row, and Darius Rucker sang, danced, snapped his fingers, and smiled like he was singing right to you. The set list was great, except for the third song, it was the only song I didn’t know.
He played all the favorites plus the top Hootie and the Blowfish songs, and of course, encored w Wagon Wheel. DR PERFORMS, he does not engage w the crowd by high fives, shaking hands, selfies, signing items thrown on stage, bringing special people on stage or any of the things other artist do these days. He does not have a laser light show or pyrotechnics. However, his videos to the music are trendy w neon lights!
If it wasn’t DR on stage I probably would not of stayed through the rain, but this concert and DR was my summer highlight! 🤠
As for the venue, it was my first time, it was charming. Accessible without too many steps or stairs to get around. Plenty of places to get a drink and mingle. I did not see any food stands, but maybe they were on the other side? Staff was very kind and helpful, with my disability (torn meniscus). I’d return for another show!
