Daniel Caesar on Tour
Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Caesar has played festivals around the world, but his live shows spotlight the deep connection the Ontario-born musician has with his fans. Whether performing solo or backed by his touring band and backing vocalists, Caesar deftly commands the intimate feel that makes his records so exciting, his voice fluttering into falsetto as he opens his heart to the audience.

Oshawa-born Daniel Caesar established himself as a force in the alt-R&B world with his 2014 debut EP Praise Break, which showcased his wide-ranging tastes and deep knowledge. The EP sampled troubadour Jeff Buckley and trip-hop outfit Zero 7 while also drawing inspiration from Pink Floyd, teenage heartbreak and his own background in church music. It drew rave reviews. Caesar followed that up with the 2015 EP Pilgrim’s Paradise, which put the spotlight on his struggles with his faith and the hardships he endured, including homelessness, while he pursued music full-time. In 2016 Caesar released “Get You,” a duet with Colombian singer-songwriter Kali Uchis, and the duet’s heartfelt, honest depiction of a deep romantic connection was a hit with audiences. “Get You” went double-platinum in Canada and topped the U.S. Adult R&B chart, and it was nominated for Best R&B Performance at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
Caesar followed up the success of “Get You” with Freudian, his debut full-length. That album’s blend of modern soul and classic gospel garnered positive reviews from critics, which led to it being shortlisted for Canada’s Polaris Music Prize. The single “Best Part,” a duet with the mysterious R&B singer H.E.R., reached the top of the U.S. Adult R&B chart, won Best Collaboration at the 2018 Soul Train Awards and also a Grammy for Best R&B Performance in 2019. Later that year, Caesar released Case Study 01, featuring collaborations with Pharrell Williams and John Mayer as well as the single “Love Again,” a woozy duet with soul-pop pioneer Brandy.
