    Absolutely stuning!

by MCFGV on 3/18/13Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

A wonderful performance. Such a pleasure to witness this passion for ballet, paired with the legendary music under remarkable conduction and of course Ms Graham's beautiful voice and interpretation of Wagner. An amateur's delight!

    Rite Of Spring was unforgettable.

by Unnamed25 on 3/18/13Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

Music was outstanding but performance was not. It seemed like a low budget production with no props and no imagination to the costumes.

Thoroughly enjoyed the show. What a spectacular collaboration of dance, vocals and orchestra. Bravo!

    Wow! What talent!

Having sat through choral versions of Carmina Burana, I was half dreading the show, but the combination of the choral music, the soloists and the dance troupe made this an unforgettable experience. Gainesville once again showed how big a small town it is!

    Dance Alive's Carmina Burana

by QAjaqer on 2/21/12Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

A delightful evening's entertainment combo w/ dance and music to stir the body. Dance Alive's choreography and performance was new and refreshing, the chorus and soloists were awesome and the orchestra very much alive and in tune w/ Orff's percussive moments, tho the trombones first entrance was weak. We definitely enjoyed the nite and would come see it again.

Carmina - wonderful music - missed the ballet

by sageadvsr7 on 2/20/12Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

Carmina Burana was an audio delight with amazing coral and orchestral performances. However, the staging left all who sat in the orchestra seating on either side completely blinded by the chorus. While the dancing was superb, much was left to the imagination as only about 40% of the stage could be seen from our seats. It was a disappointment that so much talent and hard work should be unseen. In addition, because of the staging, we were also given as a distraction the activities behind stage as the side curtains did not screen off the comings and goings of the dancers.

The addition of the chorus and symphony was excellent. Solo performers in chorus were fantastic. Dance overall was very good, but some sequences needed to be more in time with the music.

Sensational blending of music & dance.

by cblovesdance2 on 2/20/12Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

This was an evening to remember. The orchestra, chorus & dancers were exceptional & performed together in such a way that it transformed me to another world. There aren't enough words to describe how sensational this production was.

    Carmina Burana was unforgettable!

What a fantastic event -- you just don't get the opportunity to see an orchestra/choir/ballet performance anymore. It was an experience, a must see.

It was really awesome!!! My sister had requested to go to a ballet for her B-Day, so my family and I surprised her with these tickets......."It was perfect!!!" she said at the end of the performance......The rest of us enjoyed it immensely as well.....even my 4 month old niece was fascinated :-)

    Sugar Plum Tea Time

by Anonymous on 12/19/11Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

It was enjoyable but a bit intimidating for my 6-year old. She had no interest in interacting with the dancers, so we did an eat-and-run. It was a cute concept, but a little too informal and subdued to be enjoyable. Maybe some arts and crafts activity or a short presentation to promote interaction.

    Nutcracker always a classic

Dancing and costumes were well done, although some of the choreography this year made me yawn.

Dance Alive (Fire & Ice) was better than imagined

by Doug12 on 10/16/11Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

From the opening performance, the dancers exceeded all expectations and the choreography to the music and theme was amazing. A great combination of the arts, highlighting what the human body is capable of doing. Nice combination of music from classical to modern. Only disappointing moment was the closing act which although done very well, was not the spectacular and climatic ending it could have been. Enjoyed the blend of Olympians and their art along with dance interpretation. Would have been nice to have seen Peggy Flemming there of course. Overall, very well done and will see Dance Alive Ballet company again for sure.
