About

The legendary Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks perform their celebrated musical extravaganza "Holidaze in Hicksville" for the first time at the Aladdin Theater. This much-loved and one of a kind musical evening features an entertaining view of the holiday season told through the group's original songs and dance, as well as Dan's signature eclecticism and humor. Songs will include such "Hicks-ian" gems as - -Somebody Stole My Santa Claus Suit, Rudolph the Bald-Headed Reindeer, and Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Christmas Card.

"As so few truly orginal voices exist in pop music, Dan Hicks should be a national treasure". - San Francisco Chronicle

Dan Hicks - what a show!

by garlicqueen on 5/30/11Aladdin Theater - Portland

Genius songwriting and performing- caliber of musician-ship definitely above 5-star and lots of fun touches to the performance - back-up female singers/percussionists were a hoot to watch! The venue works well (love the plush seats) and sound-mixing, acoustics were very good. Opening act Padam Padam is a local favorite (I'm from out-of-state) and fabulous fun to watch and listen to - we felt transported to a sidewalk cafe in Paris or Berlin and were sad to have the set come to a close! Recommend to music fans of many genres-

It wasn't just great music and string playing-it was fantastic entertainment. I've enjoyed Dan and his music for years and years but this was the first time I got to see him live.

When I got my driver's license, I use to just drive to the Troubadour and see whoever. This is how I first learned of Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks. I thought after all these years, seeing him perform would be more of just a nostalgia event. But the quality of his voice and presence and his back up musicians, vocalists was outstanding. I hate giving this good of a review because I don't want the world to rediscover him and then I won't be able to get such good tickets at such a great price. O Well ---- gotta support the arts.

Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks were caucasion madness

I can't personally think of anybody playing that music today, so it is quite refreshing to see someone preform that type of music, which you don't have a chance to see all that much anymore. They're the only preformers I can think of that are playing that type of music. You can see hip hop, rocknroll, and jazz all you want , but to witness a show like Dan Hicks is unique, and its a real treat to see that music on stage. The show was fantastic, inspiring, and just absolutely phenomenal. They played as well as when I saw them for my first time at the Troubadour in 1970. And I hope they play again here in Southern California.

wonderful set ... casual as always, the band was tight and in touch. Guitar, Fiddle and Bass worked with precision and heart to create a set that was well worth our time and money. You go Dan... got to love this shtufffff all day all nite.........
