Amazed

I have been following his journey since I first had the great fortune to see him in the 1990s after the release of Fifty Eggs. He grabbed my attention from the opening notes of his first song and I was so taken that I stayed for the second show that night. It was evident that we were witnessing a special artist at work! This recent appearance was much like that first one. Only this time, I had the pleasure to introduce Dan’s live performance to a friend who saw him for the first time that night. While she occasionally had heard me singing along with his songs, she had not had the opportunity to attend a show. I cannot adequately describe the look of happiness on her face as she followed along and sometimes recognized a song that she had previously heard with me. We were “all in” from the first notes and would have stayed for as long as Dan was able to play. It’s hard to put it into words, but suffice to say that he still entertains, amazes, and immediately makes one realize that they are receiving a special gift presented by a unique and gifted artist. Dan has been a positive influence and I have enjoyed each time that I have been able to sit, watch and listen to him play and sing. It has been 27 song-filled to this point and attending his performances and having the ability to share his music with friends will remain an essential part of my life as I move forward. As for my friend, she enjoyed it so much that she had me accompany her to another one of Dan’s shows just days later. In short, this show did not disappoint. And it my experience, Dan Bern has never disappointed. If you get a chance, attend one of his shows. I’m certain that when it’s over, you’ll be glad that you did.
