Damon Albarn, the lead singer of Blur and Gorrilaz! Woo hoo!
Well, maybe he is a god, but I have no way of verifying that. The Boston show was mesmerizing. As in New York, he did songs from the contemplative side of all of his musical forays (with the exception of Dr. Dee and Monkey-Journey to the West)....until the end when, for the first time ever, folks, he performed Song 2 without Blur! This rocked the Royale. Unfortunately, he didn't perform This Is a Low because of that, but hey, I saw history. A wonderful moment was right at the beginning of Mr. Tembo, when someone tossed Damon a knitted elephant cap, replete with tusks and trunk and ears. Damon put it on and was grinning that timeless Damon Albarn grin from ear to ear. You can see a video of it posted below. Wow, Morrissey and Damon Albarn within two days of each other. I can quit right here.
Damon albarn is such a talented songwriter and performer. I'm so glad I got to catch him and the heavy seas live. What an experience! Blur, gorillaz, the good the bad and the queen, rocketjuice and the moon, and his solo work. Unreal.
Dudes game is super tight. did not realize how talented he was. recommended.
The show was amazing. Damom performed songs from all his incarnations - solo, Gorillaz, Blur and The Giod, the Bad and The Queen. It was great how he engaged with audience. I saw him with Gorillaz at Madison. While a great show, this set list and venue were better for me.
Seeing a major rock figure in such an intimate venue is a rare privilege, not to be missed. Loved the combination of gorillaz and blur songs though probably not the best picks from the back catalog. Last time I saw Albarn was last year with blur in a massive stadium... what a change!
