Dame Kiri has a magnificent voice, still going strong. It's not a young voice any more, but it's a lot younger than many. She also has a great personality.
The program is not interesting - it's songs, not arias. They do showcase her voice, I suppose, but they're not satisfying to anyone unfamiliar with them.
Finally, the piano and the stage had not been cleaned. That's impossible to understand. From third row center, we could see the dirt on the stage. The piano looked magnificent when the lights were down, but was covered with smears and fingermarks when the lights were high. And they were very high. Really, Marin Center, are things so tight you can't find 20 minutes to give a world renowned prima donna a clean enviornment in which to perform?
