One of the most popular and highly recognized standup comedians on the road today has also
made quite an impression in the television and radio arena.
In 1999, D.L., along with comedians Bernie Mac, Steve Harvey and Cedric the Entertainer,
embarked on this national tour, which sold out most of the major concert arenas in over 50 cities across
the country. The tour went on to gross a staggering $37 million dollars nationwide. Spike Lee, eager to
expose the tour to a larger audience, made a docu-film of the tour, and it was released nationwide to
rave reviews.
Hughley spent four successful years starring in his own sitcom "The Hughleys" and showed no
signs of slowing down. It was the mega-hit,"The Original Kings of Comedy" that launched D.L into
superstardom. The film, based on the 1999 tour featuring D.L., Bernie, Steve and Cedric, garnered
close to $40 million dollars at the box office and became one of the highest selling DVDs in 2001.
In addition to some exciting television developments, D.L. took a serious turn with his work,
starring in the drama "Shackles". Hughley wowed audiences in 2001 in "The Brothers", co-starred in
"Cloud Nine" opposite Burt Reynolds and also starred in the film "Doubting Thomas".
In 2005-2006, D.L., hosted his own late night talk show for Comedy Central "Weekends at the
DL"; his first foray into late night hosting.
D.L.'s creative arsenal is non-stop. He starred as "Simon Stiles" on the Aaron Sorkin drama
series for NBC "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and hosted the popular BET hidden camera reality
series, "S.O.B. - Socially Offensive Behavior". In 2006, D.L. also starred in his own HBO comedy
special entitled,"Unapologetic". The special, which aired to excellent reviews, is now available on
DVD. Following the success of the special, D.L. went on to host the second season of HBO's "Def
Comedy Jam" and served as host of the BET Awards in 2008.
Most recently, D.L. served as host of his own late night talk show on CNN "D.L. Hughley
Breaks the News". Proving he could, indeed, break news, D.L. was able to uncover startling, newsmaking
comments from such guests as former White House Press Secretaries Scott McClellan and Ari
Fleischer, as well as a recent controversy-stirring comment from RNC Michael Steele.
D.L. can currently be heard on the New York airwaves, as the host of the morning show on
WYKS-FM. In just a few months on air, D.L. has managed to increase the listenership for the station.
D.L. has undoubtedly proved himself as one of the hardest working men in showbiz. In addition to his
growing TV and film resume, D.L. continues his reign on the standup comedy front; filling out concert
halls and headlining comedy clubs across the country.
It was an ok event. It was something that I would have gone to see at the comedy club in Ontario.
The comedians were so funny, I couldn't stop laughing and in turn I couldn't breath and I kept choking. Great show
We enjoyed the show just wish there were more comedians & we feel the show could've been longer. Also open the after party to everyone or offer the invite when the tickets are being purchased.
IT WAS FUNNY ALL THE TIME...NEVER STOPPED LAUGHING.
Excellent!!!!! Hope he returns. Great preformance. The pre show was outstanding. The time of the show was excellent. It gives you time to get home from work and relax, then have a great night out on the town.
my husband and i really enjoyed the show this was our third time seeing dl
I TOTALLY ENJOYED THE COMEDY SHOW. MY DAUGHTER JUST TURNED 21 AND IT WAS HER FIRST CASINO EXPERIENCE AND SHE LOVED IT. I HAD ALREADY PURCHASED HIS DVD "UNAPOLOGETIC" AND ENJOYED IT TOO. WHENEVER HE COMES BACK I"LL BE THERE. MAYBE NEXT TIME I CAN GET HIM TO AUTOGRAPH MY DVD. KEEP THE LAUGHS COMING!!
The opening act comedian was funny and DL rocked the show. It was an enjoyable eveneing for my husband and me. I will go back to other events at the IP. With the variety of singers, groups, and comedians that are hosted at the IP casino and resort there is something for all to enjoy.
D L came out dressed to impress. His lines were smooth and consistently funny. He touched on many current topics and everyday issues. I can relate to his type of comedy. It helps also that he is a very sexy man and easy on the eyes. His wife must be proud. My fiance' was nervous because we had second row seats at a D L Hughley show. He was almost scared to laugh, during the show. I assured him it would be o-kay. Boy, was I glad I was wrong. He was about the third person D L singled out to pick on in the audience and I was cracking up. It was all good clean fun and, in the end, my fiance enjoyed it, too. He said he would go again, but we would have to sit further in the back. It was a great show!
My husband and I really enjoyed the show. DL is so funny, I did'nt want the show to end. My favorite moment was when he talked about his son who has a disability. I work for the Disability Council, and I think it is wonderful that he never made a difference with his son when it came to his upbringing.
The show was excellent, I enjoyed the Comedian who came on first. DL was very good as usual. He was again very astute to the political situation. And, though he was funny, he brought alot to the table for you to think about. I would go see him again. He also makes me look upon my childhood with appreciation for the experience. Because, the things you take for granted are the things that shape you. And, it is easier to laugh then cry.
D.L. was really funny and so was his opening act one of the funniest comedy shows i have been to in awhile
I had a wonderful time ...............I love getting away goin to the IP and DL Hughley was the bomb he was soooooooooooooooo good that he needs to come back or at least to New Orleans...............
DL put on an outstanding show. I drove from FL to MS to see him live and it was well worth the trip. His opening act was also pretty good.
DL's performance was great!! It was good seeing him perform live and doing standup again. DL was hilarious as usual and I would certainly enjoy seeing him again.
From the moment D.L. hit the stage, he was hilarious. At one point, I thought I wasn't going to make it to the end of the show because my side was hurting from laughing so hard and long. I wish he comes to Louisiana soon so I can enjoy an encore performance!
It was my first live comedy performance, and it was great!! The guy who opened for him, was very funny, really got the show started!! Wish we could remember his name. And D.L. Hughley, was just as hilarious as always!! My husband did want me to mention, we noticed him shaking, we hope he's alright.
DL WILL MAKE YOU BUST YOUR SIDE OPEN! HE IS CRAZY!
the show was great......ive told all my family they missed a great time...funny as hell...my wife loved the show too so thats a plus for me
He was sooo funny, I laughed so hard my sides hurt the next day. At times i laughed so hard I couldn't breathe.
