About

New Orleans rapper Curren$y is one of the hardest-working men in the business, with seven albums, half a dozen EPs, and 18 mixtapes all released within the last six years. His fifth album "The Stone Immaculate" debuted in 2012 as No. 2 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts. Working alongside some of the top talent in the rap world, he spits intricate rhymes full of clever wordplay, all with the kind of relaxed attitude that tells you he could keep going all day long and then he lays a killer jazz-funk beat over the top. On stage, Curren$y has an easy, down-to-earth charisma. He even brings the crowd in on it, with lots of audience participation and free swag given out. It makes the whole thing feel like you just bought a ticket for a party at Curren$y’s house. It's the same on Curren$y's albums, where he invites some of rap's heaviest hitters to the party, including Wiz Khalifa for their joint 2013 EP, "Live In Concert," and Lil Wayne and Birman, who show up on Curren$y’s latest single "442." He often tours with Smoke DZA, Fiend, Street Wiz, and the other members of his Jet Life rap collective.

Curren$y first came into the limelight in 2001, when signed to his friend C-Murder’s Tru Records. As part of the 504 Collective, he was featured on the song “Get Back.” Then, he joined Lil Wayne for “Grown Man,” on Wayne's best-selling album, "Tha Carter II." Curren$y's first solo single was 2006's “Where da Cash At,” and since then it's been a steady stream of albums and EPs, as well as a ton of unofficial mixtapes released for free. With concerts lined up in December 2013, Curren$y is looking to end the year with a bang

Too many opening acts. A 5 hour concert is too long if people have to stand up and only ceiling fans are used to cool the room.. I like Curren$y though. The performance was fine, just the venue was not ideal.

    Great Concert!

    by 619ATL on 6/11/12Masquerade - Atlanta

Although this concert "started" at 7pm, no artist performed unit arount 9pm. Curren$y did not hit the stage until around 11:30pm. Great concert, good crowd, and just an overall positive environment.

Curren$y was as amazing as always. There were 2 opening acts who..I don't care to ever see again :) Then Corner Boy P/ Fein/Young Roddy <3 & then Curren$y. Engaged the crowd in the show. I've been to many hip hop concerts where the artist play their track w/ words and all and just yell over it! ... What I really appreciate is that he actually knew his own lyrics & didn't have a stage full of pointless hypemen! & the DJ only played the music...no words! I went to see him the last time he was here in Atlanta..Same venue too so I knew what to expect. The line was long but moved really fast to get inside. My only complaint about the show is that we stood in the crowd for atleast an hr waiting on the 1st opening act!

Curren$y took forever to come out. Unacceptable

by Mswi on 6/10/12Masquerade - Atlanta

Concert was set to start at 7. Curren$y did not come onstage until 11:15. I got there at 8 expecting him to come out around 9-930. He had all his Posse up there rappig (who I did not pay to see). I expected it for a while but then he did not come out until 11:15. And to make it even worse he barely performed for an hour. I don't know if he got too high and lost track of time, but if that's the case he should hire someone to keep time for him. I refuse to see him at his own concert for this reason.

Currensy put on one hell of a show, Styles P also opened for him. Unfortunately security did a horrible job at locating all the drugs. My clothes and soul were consumed by marijuana smoke.

    Inflated Curren$y

by MoMoneyCMoney on 5/4/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

My friend and I got ther at 8:30 (the show started at 8) and Curren$y didn't come on until 11. Since it was standing room only, paying 30+ dollars to WAIT 2.5 hours to see the headliner was honestly a waste of time and money. Better to just listen to his songs on youtube or something.

Curren$y didn't show up till 11:15 for an 8 PM show...his openers kept doing covers of old-school rap to keep the crowd moving, the longer I was there the more gypped I felt. This was not a cheap event and I had to wake up decently early the next morning to work...The vibes were good and the venue was nice, I wish Curren$y had overcome his stage fright or sore throat or whatever and come out in a reasonable amount of time so that I could have seen him do more than three songs. As it was, by the time he came out I was exhausted from standing and fed up with the endless procession of mediocre openers. When he gave one of them a cameo on song #4 I couldn't take it anymore

    NOT THE JETS I KNOW

    by Jets12 on 5/3/12OPE - Santa Ana

First off, they took all my medicine, even though I had my medical recommendation. Security was ridiculous. After about three and half hours later, of NO SMOKING, and standing up; people being tossed out left and right for smoking a joint ...Curren$y showed up and did his thing. Overall the show was good, but I was expecting a trip to the clouds with JetSet. Still rep Jets@ur neck

I can watch Spitta again and again!!!

by HisJetMiss on 3/8/12Howlin' Wolf - New Orleans

Concert was extremely long and could have used some double performances instead of all individual. Besides having to stand up hours and hours it was well worth it when Spitta hit the stage..

by Muzic55242 on 10/27/11The Pageant - St Louis

Concert sucked. Pageant enforced no smoking. Big KRIT and Method man acted like they were the main act and rapped way too long. Then the dj messed around for a good 45 minutes. and finally 3 and a half hours after the concert started Curren$y came. He maybe did 10 songs.

    JET LIFE!

    by Iggyhop9 on 8/1/11Masquerade - Atlanta

Masquerade is a cool little venue. The first 2 acts were local cats. Then the Jet Life movement began with Smoke DZA, Fiend, Trademark, Young Roddy, Big Krit, and a few others. The event started at 7:30ish and Spitta probably came on stage at about 10:30/11:00. He came out in typical Spitta fashion and wentn right into performing. Defintely worth the 18 buck for 5 hours work of performance!
