Creighton Bluejays Men's Basketball History
The Creighton University Bluejays of Omaha, Nebraska launched their men’s basketball program in 1911. The team remained independent until 1922, when the Bluejays joined the North Central Conference and immediately won the conference title in their first season under head coach Arthur A. Schabinger. The Bluejays moved to the Missouri Valley Conference for the 1928-29 season and won the conference title in three consecutive years from 1930 to 1932. Schabinger’s successor, Eddie Hickey, led the team to their first NCAA Tournament during the 1940-41 season. They would appear in the tournament again in 1962 and 1964 under coach Red McManus, finishing in the Sweet Sixteen stage, followed by the same result in 1974.
Although Creighton began as an independent program, and have spent the majority of their existence in the Missouri Valley Conference, the team has been a member of the Big East since the 2013-14 season. Under current head coach Greg McDermott, the Bluejays have claimed one regular season championship in the Big East, tying for first in the 2019-20 season, and appeared in five consecutive March Madness tournaments. Along with Sweet Sixteen runs in 2021 and 2024, the Bluejays reached the Elite Eight in 2023.
Creighton has ushered several players into the NBA, including Paul Silas, Kevin McKenna, Benoit Benjamin, Kyle Korver, Anthony Tolliver and Doug McDermott.

Getting to our Seats was easy just dark. Entertainment was great first time at a game so glad they pulled off the win
the event was great, good atmosphere and the digital tickets work perfectly. Wish the tickets that I purchased would have been marked as a partially obstructed view. I had sect 224 Row E, seats 1&2. the railing was directly in the way and i had to watch the game thought the rails. These seats need to be marked as obstructed, and all others that are similar. I would have purchased other seats if i had known. Go Cyclones
It was a wonderful game. I was very impressed with Creighton’s poise and great ball handling. They’ll go far in the upcoming NCAA tournament. Way to go, Creighton! Also, a big “congratulations” to the young lady from the Creighton Women’s basketball, who received the honor, “Big East Player of the Year”. Great Job!
We did not realize until the last second that the lot north of the Hilton was pass-only, at least for Creighton games. How are others to know? The screening crew getting into the arena was efficient, courteous, and helpful. Great views even from 200-sections.
I took my 5yo son to his first basketball game. Creighton was a heavy favorite, and rightfully so. The game was a blowout, in a good way. The atmosphere was energetic and friendly and my boy loved every minute of it. He saw other kids getting involved and ate it up!
Great venue, got to visit with former classmate and neighbor who plays for Creighton plenty to do before and after the game in the area
they won't let opposing teams bring their cheer squads in to cheer for their teams.
Creighton BB Is the best. And the atmosphere at CHI Center great
The game was jammed pack with excitement! I can't wait to go to another event!
Great idea to help raise funds for charity. It should be considered every year. I thought the kids played hard and it was fun to get an early look at our two D-1 programs in Omaha.
The game was great! We have friends join us one of which played basketball for UNO. I am not that impressed with the Ticketmaster site with which we ordered the tickets. It directed you toward tickets as opposed to allowing you to freely select the seats of your choice. We sat behind the Creighton bench and had wonderful seats but it is close to our usual season tickets. I would have enjoyed giving my guest the opportunity to sit behind his alma mater. That being said, we had a wonderful experience and this is simply some constructive criticism concerning the web site.
CenturyLink is an amazing venue for watching a basketball game! The seats are the best - individual, padded, and cupholders, too! Not expecting Creighton to lose this game - their defense was noticeably absent but still glad we were able to see the game in person.
The game was good. However I tried to use the option to have my ticket on my phone and it was unable to be scanned and created a problem where we held up the line and eventually they just let us go in.
We have been to many games here and we love the Creighton fans.
i bought best available seats 3 weeks before the game. we were in the next to the TOP ROW at the arena! horrible!
Good basketball, fans are into it, Watson is awesome. Mascot is agile and athletic, Watson drives the lane mascot flips from standing pose the warmth of it all
What a great game! Wonderful atmosphere, energized crowd, and a conference victory for the Jays.
Creighton has better get their ticket prices in order. From what II saw Saturday. There were a lot of empty seats. I understand all of the season ticket holder seats. The seats may have been empty but they were already sold. These ticket holders will eventually disappear if the price keeps getting out of control and the team keeps performing like they did this year.
Section 224, Row E, Seats 1-3 The seating is horrible and I do not recommend anyone get these seats! Its not the end of the aisle that's the issue, it the fact that there is raised railing just to the right of these seats overlooking the court that causes the view to be totally blocked! You have to bend, stretch, reach just to see the court.....we settled for watching the big screen.
Greatest sporting event of my life! Go jays! Go Doug Mcdermott.
