very nice and helpful people and the grounds were kept very neat
Fantastic day of golf. Fox Chapel Golf Club was wheel equipped to handle the crowds with friendly volunteers plenty of bathrooms and refreshment stands.
An excellent day at Fox Chapel. Some soggy spots in the walkways, but, considering all the rain we had prior to and during the event it wasn't all that bad. The shuttle service was great, the food was good, and the rain held off till the golf was over. Excellent!
The event was first-class from the set up to the everyday running of the tournament. I took my 7 year old great nephew and the golfers couldn't have been more accomodating to him. It was amazing to be up close and personal with the world's best and they themselves turned out to be some of the classiest people that you'd want to meet! Even with the soggy weather throughout the tournament, the grounds crew, from top to bottom, did a bang-up job in keeping the course playable and accomodating to the gallery. Great job!
This was the first professional golf tournament my husband and I ever attended. The people we encountered were very welcoming, even when the skies opened up Friday afternoon! We had no idea that we would be so close to these golfers! Thanks for a great event.
Being able to watch all these great golf legends in one place is awesome. We are lucky in Pittsburgh to have had a second chance to see these golfers. The course looked immaculate even with the amount of rain through the week. The only negatives were the amount of mud and the round being cut short due to weather. The rain is something the tournament cannot control and they did the best they could with controlling the mud in the walking areas. Also, it was generous that you were able to redeem your Friday ticket for Saturday or Sunday. At the tournament, the spectators are able to get around very easily and be extremely close-up to the golfers. Great two days of golf, even with the first being shortened. I am definitely looking forward to any future golf tournaments in Western PA, especially any Senior tournaments.
The golf was great. Tournament organizers, website, and communications for a Major event was disappointing. Example - bought a parking pass for Lot 6 but arrived at Lot 6 and lot was full (due to rain). Makes sense but how about making that announcement earlier. No refund either.
It was great. Up close and personal with some of the world's greatest players of all time!!
Watson, Couples, Langer, Stadler, Mediate, Irwin, Kite, Lehman are some of the past golf champs I followed during the first half plus of round 2. It was great to see how well they all still drive and approach. Putting seems to be where the wheels really come off as a golfer ages. Of course, some of the younger seniors (Couples, Perry, etc.) don't have any problems there either. Lovely, straightforward course at Fox Chapel with a beautiful brick-and-stone clubhouse at the turn. Unfortunately, just as I was about to pick up Couples, Funk, Roberts, others playing the back 9 first, the heavens parted and a deluge came down and effectively flooded the course. A second added insult to injury, so I only saw part of the play. The round continued Saturday morning, but I was then flying home. Still I had a great time. Saw many of the greats up close and personal.
Although the rain made attempts to dampen the day, the course was in great shape. The holes were changed from last year, which made play a little different. For the most part the volunteer staff were very cordial, but there were a few who didn't know what to do under certain circumstances. e.g. ball outside the ropes - take down the ropes and move spectators aside.
every person that w met was informative and knowledgeable ---a very pleasant experience
Great event hope to see more PGA events near Pittsburgh!
The entire event was well organized, carefully orchestrated and viewing and sight lines were well thought out.
The event was fun and well done. I hope they host it again soon. Wish some photography had been permitted.
The Senior PLAYERS Championship was just a fantastic, well run event. The people working there and especially the players couldn't have been any nicer, and I managed to get 15 autographs on the final day of the tournament, I would go again in a heartbeat.
Great tournament but knowledge of what to do seriously lacking by the volunteers around tees and greens. Lots of noise when players putting etc... been to lots of tournaments I think need better training.
The event from a spectator standpoint was sub-par from a hospitality standpoint. There were no chairs in the handicapped areas, canvas chairs were "flashed" as not being allowed on the course, but when we walked the course dozens of them were on the grounds. The merchandise tents were very small and stocked only the host course Fox Chapel Golf Club items-not much in terms of the Senior Players Championship. The player representation was great. Proximity to the golfers was also a plus.
The Wife and I enjoyed seeing the players up close. We stood behind them while teeing off. You could hear them talking and could see the flight of the ball. Also enjoyed being near the green while they putted. The wife and I are in our seventies and would have liked to have seen more bleachers, like along the fairways on No. 1 and 18. Hope they come back next year.
I wen to the event on Wednesday and it was really nice. The course was great. The golfers were very friendly with the crowd. It was interesting to be able to stand right beside some of the most famous golfers.
