    I just got Zapped

by Foster2 on 7/12/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

I wished Steve Arrington was with Slave and the group would have played longer. Other than that the music was flowing and the crowd was groovin. Bring back the OLD SCHOOL MUSIC.

    Entire show was fantastic!

by Peazie on 7/12/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

Confunkshun, Zapp & Slave were all fantastic! It was great to hear and see "live band music. Just about everyone in the audience were on their feet during some parts of the show. It was great to see Zapp performing once again after the loss of "Roger." Michael Cooper of Confunkshun still has that dynamic voice!!

    Confunkshun, Zapp and Slave

by Anonymous on 7/12/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

The concert was good. Zapp put on an excellent performance. I hope they are brought back as the headliner. They have a high energy that brought the audience to their feet throughout their performance. Confunkshun was good too. It was a pleasure listening to the songs I haven't heard in a while. They were very entertaining and Michael Cooper still sounds great.

    Confunkshun turned it out

by missharlequin on 7/12/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

Slave got us started, but Zap did not make us get up and party. They seem to be stuck in the 80's, they changed suits on stage (that has been played to death) plus why have on two suits when it's 90+ degrees? Then there was this old school shout out to the bird dance, we (us DC people did not do the bird) I saw the Time do it on Prince's Purple Rain it was goofy then and it's goofy now. BUT CONFUNKSUN!!!! WEREOFF THA' HOOK!!!!!!!. They were tight the vocals excellent the BAND was fantastic. They definitely should be called back!!!! I LOVED IT AND THEM!!!!! I had to go home and take a shower, wash my hair I had danced so much. A+++++++++++++++++++++

Throw Your Hands Up In The Air!!!

by GrayGurl on 7/12/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

What a great show. All three groups were superior. Slave was a nice opener, plenty of energy to start. ZAPP just came on and put the show on the map. They entertained us to the maximum. Outstanding job. Then came ConFunkShun - they were on point too. ConFunkShun has a bass player that even Jimmie Hendrix would have loved. This bass player was superb and just kicked off one jam right behind the other during his introduction moment. I'm so glad I was there to enjoy it!

The Confunkshun, Zapp and Slave Show was Nice!

by Parkers3 on 7/12/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

The show was nice overall. We especially enjoyed Slave, who opened the show. Slave sang all of their hits and really had the crowd grooving. We were a little disappointed with Zapp because they did more dancing rather than singing. However when they sang "Computer Love", that was awesome when Shirley Murdock joined them on stage--she sounded so good! Confunkshun started out a little slow but they produced in the end. I think it is nice that affordable shows are offered in this bad economy.

    Zapptastic

by PussNBoots on 7/12/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

The accoustics in the Carter Barron was amazing. The 3 groups were professional and they sounded better than their CDs. Parking lot was conviently close. The security maintained crowd control. The entire event was a complete joy under an amazing moonlit ski. I'm looking forward to attending more events at the Carter Barron.

by JoeAB on 7/12/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

My friends and I really enjoyed the show. We regularly attend the shows at the Carter Barron. We love the venue. Confunkshun was a hit also but I have to say that the ZAPP Band was our favorite.

    ConFunkShun was Outstanding

by Jakster411 on 7/12/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

The show of all shows.....This was the show to be at if you were in DC this past weekend. Slave came out and did there thing and was good, then Zappa put on a hellava show and the energy and from Zappa was great. Confunkshun was the Outstanding. Man Micheal Cooper and the group was dynamite. The Horns was perfect just like the 70's and the vocals was good. Were can you go and get 3 great acts in one arena. This is my 3rd coming and this year we brought friends along and they really enjoyed the it. Can't wait til the next event. Now tell me Carter Barron how can you top this show next year?

    Nothing Beats Old School!

by LadieLeo on 7/11/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

Once again, those of us who love Old School were not disappointed with the shows last night at the Carter Barron. SLAVE started our trip down memory lane with a medley of their awesome hits including Slide which left us all fired up and ready. ZAPP sent an electrical charge right thru our bodies, gave us "more bounce to the ounce "and had us on our feet the entire time they were on the stage. CONFUNKSHUN had a tough act to follow, but they came thru just fine and set the stage on fire as usual.

    Old Skool in da house

by 2much4me363 on 7/11/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

The entire concert was the best ever. All three groups opened the doors for the summer bands and I am so glad that I went. My boyfriend had never seen a live outside event with all his favorites, he was on his feet from the begining to the end.

    Confunkshun stole the show

by Lovesfunk on 7/11/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

Slave was good, but they were only on for 30 minutes. Zapp is who we really went to see and although they were enteraining to watch, they didn't play their songs all the way through. They just gave you a sample of each. It wasn't like they didn't have time to play the song all the way through because they did a lot of filler stuff with other music and silly stuff with the crowd. Just wished they had played their music more. Confunkshun was tight. The band sounded so good. I didn't listen to their music back in the day, so I didn't recognize most of their songs, but the band sounded so good, I didn't care - just enjoyed listening to them play!

    Old School Party

by skeeta on 7/11/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

This was a fun night. All of the groups put on a great show. The unannounce appearance of Shirley Murdock singing "Computer Love" with Zapp, was icing on the cake. Even the breaks between acts were fun. The DJ played music that made you get up off of your feet and jam. In fact for most of the night nearly everyone stayed on their feet. Good time had by all!!!

    Great evening show

by DarlaMac on 7/11/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

A big fan of old school funk! This show was well worth the wait!! All three bands put on a great show! The packed house was on its feet for must of the evening. Please bring more shows like this the Carter Barron, it was built with this kind of show in mind. Though the first band (Slave) was short changed on their time, the put on a good show and it only got better from the beginning. On a negative note, the lines and entrance could have been much better managed. The ticket takers didn't even take a second to make sure that the tickets were for this event we gave our home printed tickets to the guard, the never even looked at them, just waved us through.

    Zapp, Did It Up!!

by saladyd on 7/11/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Took me back to my high school and college days. This is real music, when people could "really" sing! ConFunkShun sang all my favorites but Zapp gave the show of the night. And, the praises they gave to God were genuine, not just rote words! Thank God for the talent he blessed each group with. When they come back again I will be there!

    Awesome Old School Jam

by djinc on 7/11/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

I thought the concert was top notch from beginning to end. The price was right for such a venue. I am glad to see such cultural offerings from the DC Government and US Park Service. The bands delivered as expected with energy and a "sermon" to boot. If you missed this concert, you may want to review the schedule of the Carter Barron for other gems that will come this way (DC).
