    Clever Aukerman

by Curmudge1 on 10/2/13Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

It was billed as Comedy Bang Bang but that's not what we got. No set, no format, and NO REGGIE WATTS!!!! Sure, we got a very amusing promotion of a new IFC show as a first act. But this was followed by an OK Aukerman stand up bit leading into a three way conversation with Scott, Doug Benson, and a very funny Frank Thomkins playing Werner Herzog. Initially amusing, this bit quickly ran out of steam, degenerating into a tedious Carrot Top bit. I realize that the tickets were reasonable and parking was free but a good opportunity was missed due to cheapness and laziness. If it's not Comedy Bang Bang don't call it that.

I think I probably almost died twelve times over the course of this show, much to the dismay of everyone around me.

Where was Reggie Watts? Paul F Thomkins killed it, definitely the best part of the show. Scott Aukerman was good, but Doug Benson was a poor choice. He literally added nothing funny to set. Where is Reggie Watts? I thought this was Comedy Bang Bang!

    Avoid at all costs

by Razor415 on 10/2/13Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco

I was expecting sketch comedy and perhaps some standup. Instead I got awkward preteen humor done in an improv, live podcast format. Except there was very little humor. And the entire show was 3 guys sitting on stools desperately trying to think of witty puns. Scott Aukerman has no business doing live comedy. He somehow managed to render Doug Benson speechless and force Paul F. Thompkin to stay in Werner Herzog character the entire show. There was even a "bit" about naming Carrot Top movies that lasted 30 minutes. I can't make this up. Scott named 20 movies and just replaced on word with the word carrot. And then laughed at his own jokes. I hadn't seen anything like this since my bus in junior ugh school. You have been sufficiently warned.

Funny show, had a really good time. Has both great improv and standup bits. It's also kind of weird (especially Tim Heidecker) so you might not "get it" unless you're familiar with the podcast or the show.

    Good Pain

My stomach and face hurt from laughing so hard, but it's a good pain.

My body wanted to throw up from the laughter.

After Braunohler , I was sweating from my laughter. After Aukerman, my face hurt. After Adomian, my abs had turned washboard. After Tompkins, my body tried to vomit from the sheer amount of laughing I was doing. That was just the first half of the show... Dear god, what did I sign up for...

Comedy Bang! Bang! is absolutely correct.

by TheCakeApprentice on 8/5/12Herbst Theatre - San Francisco

Of all the characters on CBB two of my favorites are the Cake Boss and Huell Howser. We got them both and man did they ever deliver! Everyone was on that night and even with his broken heel, Hot Saucerman did a great job as always. Can't wait for more tours in the future because these two and half hours are absolutely some of my favorite comedy.

Funny cast. Comedy Bang Bang was quality work. The theater tech execution was kind of weird, but still a great show.
