This performance was awesome!!! This was my sixth time seeing it and it was outstanding!!! dancers are incredible and the music phenomenal!!! Hope to see it many more times!!!
I was left speechless!! Tears of joy were cried. William Starrett, Director is very talented and creative. I now understand Jonathan Green's Gullah creations better and with more sensitivity and love for the "low country" living. This ballet needs to be taken nationally and should play at the Spoleto every year. God's blessings to the cast and crew. Wow!!
The Columbia City Ballet can compete with the best ballet companies in the United States. I have seen several of their performances and hope they gain the recognition they deserve. Jonathan Green's art is exquisitely depicted in this event. I am happy that he is being recognized for being a unique artist who brings me to tears with his portrayal of the African American experience in the South.
Amazing art and dance and the correspondence between the two was seamless.
The Columbia City Ballet was fabulous as were the sets, the music and the featured singer.
This was my first time seeing this performance and it exceeded my expectations. The dancers were wonderful and the energy was great. I look forward to attending again.
Experiencing Off The Wall was a genuine artistic experience...unlike anything I've ever attended before. The artistry of the dancers, interpreting Jonathan Greene's paintings, which were beautifully rendered on stage, was impeccable. The flowing paintings on stage, took my breath away as they became a part of the ballet performance. The costumes captured the vivid colors and were accurate to the detail of Greene's subjects in his paintings. The beautiful vocals along with music from Gullah culture was integrated perfectly. Unbelievable performance.
Much too long, especially the intermission. The choreography was very pedestrian.
Absolutely LOVED this ballet! I was amazed how beautiful the dancers were performing. But the BEST part was the art of Jonathan Green. Just to see the picture come to life was breathtaking. I hope this is an annual event. Would love to see again.
I actually really feel sorry for anyone who missed that performance. I would see it again tomorrow.
Excellent performance, far exceeded my expectations.
An amazing production, from the live singers, the stage, the dancers! It was engaging from minute one to the end. A very special production and would make a priority to see again!
absolutely wonderful. so well done. fun fun fun. the scenes were fantastic
I had never attended a ballet that wasn't named Nutcracker. This was absolutely perfect. And to hopefully add some credibility, on Sunday I watched NASCAR.
blending the painting with the ballet was fantastic. Very moving performance! Columbia city ballet dancers are so full of life and spirit! The colors were beautiful. The gospel choir moving. The soloist, sorry cant remember her name, gave me goose bumps!
The art comes to life and tells the story of the struggle, the triumph, the realness of an era.
This show was absolutely amazing!! To put together a show like this based on Jonathan Greens paintings was fantastic. The dancers, the singers and the painting coming to life with beautiful colors and dance was magical!! Too bad it was showing only one night. They should bring it back for The Spoleto Festival in may. If you have a chance to see it please do!! I would see it again if it came back to Charleston.
I loved this! It was absolutely amazing.!!! Unforgettable!
