    Colin Meloy commanded the room

by davejl on 11/11/13Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Not many solo artists can stand on stage with just a guitar and enchant a full house. Colin Meloy combines a writer's wit with amazing guitar work to tell a story like no other. With funny interludes and crowd-play mixed with amazing songs, Colin Meloy is a sure hit.

Colin maloy's solo show was by far the best show

by Anonymous on 11/11/13Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Colin maloy's solo show was by far the best show I have seen all year! I have been wanting to see the decemberists for a long time. Colin ended up playing all the best decemberists songs, along with the kinks songs he covered which where also awesome. I would highly recommend this show to anyone. Don't miss this huge opportunity to hear one of the best voices around today.

    Amazing campfire sing along

by Mgarner on 11/11/13Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Colin Meloy is incredible! Amazing voice and guitar. Great Audience interaction. I felt like one of his friends and like I was with a giant, amazing family. I sang all night and want to do it again soon!

    Colin Meloy was brilliant!

by hippiekilgore on 11/11/13Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Colin was exceptional. It was my first time to see him and I was not disappointed. He encouraged a deeply interactive and personal experience, inviting us to sing along. He was charming, personable and witty. I will definitely go see him again! The only thing I didn't like is that we weren't allowed to take any photos of any kind.

    Fantastic show.

by riseuplikeangels on 11/9/13Carolina Theatre - Durham

I've been an avid Decemberists fan since middle school, and I saw them at the Raleigh Amphitheatre two years ago. Naturally, when I heard Colin was playing a solo show, I had to go. It was a great concert! The opening act was good, Colin came in on time, and he played a great mix of songs: some old Decemberists stuff, a couple of new songs, and one song by the Kinks, his band of choice to cover for this tour. That was the only thing I wished I would have seen more of--I was looking forward to see how he would arrange more Kinks songs. But the one he played was lovely, so it doesn't deter me from giving a five-star rating. His voice was put here by angels. I stand by that, and thank him for a great show (even with all the Southern jokes!).

Colin has a great, pure voice and is a joy to listen to. However, he played for less than 1.5 hours and didn't sing Crane Wife so I was a little disappointed.

Colin Meloy was an amazing joy to watch and hear

by Nanzac on 11/7/13Somerville Theatre - Somerville

Finally, I got to see Colin Meloy live. It was like being in his home and he was playing for us. He connected with the audience like old friends. He encouraged audience participation, was witty and just a joy to listen to. I just loved the show. I traveled over 60 miles and it was worth it. Hope to be able to see him perform again.

    SO GOOD YOU COULD CRY

    by Ca55 on 11/7/13Somerville Theatre - Somerville

Colin Meloy's inimitable vocal stylings rendered me a puddle of a human being girl. I've been kvelling about CM and his narrative guitar plucks every hour since the event, and I see no end in sight. Aside from his very lovely lyrics that are sung so beautifully you could cry, his deportment between songs was tops. It felt like I was back in undergrad listening to the best English professor I'd ever had -- how he set the mood for the campfire in the desert (and how we got there by way of exiting the Somerville Theater through the roof --safely, of course, at his insistence -- joined by those three statues that Meloy had photographed and Tweeted about, creeped out by them earlier in the day) made it feel like the concert-goers were somehow spiritually a family on the best vacation ever. I was feeling pretty lazy before I was set to leave for the show, and briefly contemplated not going, but boy was I glad I did. An epic show, best of 2013.

    Fantastic

by paddykeegs on 11/6/13Town Hall - New York

Best acoustic show I have ever seen. Very entertaining and loved to interact and joke with the crowd. Unfortunately it was only an hour and a half long, I could have sat there all night!

Colin Meloy was Incredible As Always

by Stephaniemyers on 11/4/13Town Hall - New York

Colin Meloy has a tremendous stage personality. He feeds off the audience interaction and will make you laugh just easily as he will move you with only his voice and guitar.

    Super chill, great show

by seventriesforthenickname on 11/4/13Town Hall - New York

I knew the music would be awesome. Never having seen him in person, I wasn't expecting Colin to be so funny. The whole night was very chill, very enjoyable, basically perfect.

    Fantastic!

by Midgeb on 11/4/13Town Hall - New York

This was my first time seeing Colin Meloy without the backing of the Decemberists. While the rest of the group definitely add to the music, Colin held his own and then some. He was his usual charming self. The venue was intimate enough to make you feel like he could be singing to you and the acoustics of Town Hall were perfect. I left the show singing and with a huge smile on my face.

Very Good Show, made for a great Friday

by YoETB on 11/4/13Town Hall - New York

I attended this show with my daughter who long ago left me in the dust with her music appreciation and acumen. While a passive Decemberist fan, I was looking forward seeing Colin's solo gig. He did not let me down and more importantly he did not let my strident music-critic daughter down. He quickly gained favor with the audience through his quick witted, self deprecation, and his play list was a great mix of new & old, cover & original. I particularly enjoyed his mini-set playing his 12-string. We both enjoyed the show and would gladly go again.

    Brilliant Singer Songwriter In Action

by etail on 11/4/13Town Hall - New York

Colin brings the audience into the world he creates with his music. Not with technology nor set design. Not with a cast of millions. Just himself, a guitar or two and a glass of wine on a table. A good balance of his prior hits with the Decmberists as well as new originals and some Kinks as well. Mesmerizing.

I've seen Colin Meloy perform with his band, The Decemberists in Prospect Park a few summers ago. He was great then, and he was wonderful at The Town Hall. He played a few new songs, and then plenty of Decemberists classics. A couple buggers were in the audience, but nothing too terrible.

    Good Music - Entertaining Banter

by DHofHV on 11/4/13Town Hall - New York

Colin's guitar and voice filled the hall. Good acoustics. His personalility really comes out in his live shows. Humble and Human.
