Claude Dubois in Concert

Claude Dubois reveals new sides to his art even 60 years into one of the most illustrious careers in the history of Quebec music. With his show En Liberté, the singer takes a nostalgic look back while renewing and deepening his bond to his dedicated audience. Warmly received in venues throughout Quebec since its debut in 2017, En Liberté has been seen by over 126,000 spectators.

After launching his solo career in the mid 1960s, Dubois became one of Quebec’s premier singer-songwriters thanks to timeless hits like “J’ai souvenir encore” and “Ma petite vie.” Dubois’ starring role in the francophone musical Starmania in 1979 led to his Félix award for Male Performer of the Year at the ADISQ gala, Quebec’s annual music awards. Dubois maintained his reputation as French Canada’s premier rocker-poet with such releases as 2016’s Zampano.

Featuring Dubois alongside four accomplished musicians, En Liberté invites audiences to join the Quebec music legend as he revisits his most requested songs in ways both familiar and surprising.

Claude Dubois Background

Born in Montreal in 1947, Claude Dubois has remained a treasured performer and songwriter in Quebec for over six decades. Dubois got an early start in 1959 when, at age 12, he recorded his debut album with the Montreal country-and-western group Les Montagnards. Absorbing the influence of folk and rock music as a teenager in the 1960s, he began his long series of solo hits with “J’ai souvenir encore” and “Ma petite vie.” With his electrifying performances in Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon’s landmark rock opera Starmania in France and Quebec, Dubois reached a new level of stardom and success. In 1979, he won his first Félix trophy for Best Male Performer of the Year. Smash hit albums such as 1982’s Sortie and 1983’s Implosif earned Dubois many more prizes and distinctions. In a sign of his growing recognition in English Canada, he performed on the famine relief single “Tears Are Not Enough” in 1985. Later that year, Dubois was nominated for Most Promising Male Vocalist at the Juno Awards. On 2007’s Dubois Duos, he teamed with many of the biggest stars in Quebec and France, including Céline Dion, André-Philippe Gagnon and Patrick Bruel. He was admitted to the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame at a 2008 gala in Toronto. With his band, Dubois began his concert tour En Liberté in 2018, performing the best-loved songs in his incomparable repertoire.

I have seen Claude Dubois many times, this in my opinion was the best performance yet. At 77 years old M. Dubois was impressive to say the least. I hope to have the opportunity to see him again. What a terrific performance.

To begin the actual show was great..sang all his hits and then some..great energy and a 5 star performance..if only we could actually see his face as they had a spotlight constantly on the audience or other area's of the stage..thus we took away 2 stars..
