Cirque du Soleil: OVO on Tour
Talk about creating a buzz. Touring circus company Cirque du Soleil's OVO offers a nonstop, life-affirming, two-hour tribute to the infinitely diverse world of insects. This sensual, acrobatically dazzling show premiered in 2009 as the Montreal-based circus company's 25th production since 1984. The cast for its premiere included 54 performing artists from 16 different countries. Created and directed by Deborah Colker, OVO (Portuguese for "egg") contemplates insects in all their beauty, action and curiosity. Brazilian composer Berna Ceppas transforms their flight, leaps, creeping and crawling into a samba-influenced choreographic spectacle augmented by the constant flutter and hum of real insect sounds.
With well over a thousand performances to date, OVO long ago took flight as one of the Cirque's most popular and rewarding extravaganzas. As Albany, New York's Times Union said of OVO in 2020, "In our digital age, it's reassuring to remember that non-simulated, filter-free entertainment still has the power to dazzle and transport us."
What is Cirque du Soleil: OVO?
Upon its Montreal debut in 2009, OVO became Cirque du Soleil's most audacious and virtuosic new-circus show to date. A trio of principal characters — Master Flipo, Foreigner and Ladybug — keeps this arena spectacular in constant motion, as awestruck insects become intensely interested in a mysterious egg's sudden appearance. OVO teems with life, and Cirque du Soleil's talented cast mirrors the insect world's natural abilities to fly, balance and leap with a lifetime of practice and precision.
During one of the company's largest flying acts, 10 scarab beetles on three platforms toss a single beetle back and forth. A colorfully costumed dragonfly flits about, red ants juggle chunks of kiwi and corncobs with their feet, and butterflies cling gracefully to one another as they float through the air. For OVO's grand finale, the large span used for brilliant lighting effects transforms into a two-story climbing wall onto which trampoline-powered crickets are hurled as though onto a vertical stage. Cockroaches, grasshoppers and other insects serve as supporting characters throughout the evening's dozen acrobatic tours de force.
This was a wonderful, fun, immersive show that makes you appreciate real talent. The music, humor, and acrobatics were all top notch. Gives you that magic feeling that you can only get from a Cirque show. Will get tickets again as soon as another Cirque du Soleil show is in town.
Very entertaining experience and Dickies Arena is awesome.
The acrobatic segments are incredible, the stage cinematography and choreography are spectacular! We were in awe at the performances! The bug character interactions are a bit odd and make strange noises instead of talking so it was annoying but overall the athletic performance positives are worth going and we will go again to a Cirque show!
This was an amazing show! It was our first time to see Cirque Du Soleil, and they did not disappoint. The performers, sets and music were all incredible! We cannot wait to see another performance!
Boring...very disappointing in comparison to other Cirque shows. Not enough acrobatics and way too much "filler"
The colors, the music, the story were all phenomenal. This is our fifth Cirque performance. It only ranks as number two since nothing could match the first one (just because it was the first!). The arena was top notch, awesome view and great seats. Looking forward to the next Cirque performance and enjoying others in this venue.

My family and I really enjoyed the performance. The colors, music and vibe were amazing. We highly recommend seeing this show.
At 1st it was a bit difficult to follow. But once i was able to catch on, i enjoyed it. My least favorite part about the event, was the lack of freshnees from the concessions. I understand Pandemic and Under staff, but the food was horrible. My condog was greasy and not crisp at all. Popcorn was not fresh...served from a bag. When you think of circus and concessions, you think of hot and fresh snacks. That wasnt the case.
First time I’ve ever seen a Cirque performance and it was outstanding! Can’t say enough good things about this. Totally captivating. Funny, thrilling and told a good story. Can’t wait to see another one!
Great fun for the family. Even kept the teenager engaged throughout. Fun for adults also. Talented group of athletes.
All their shows are fun to watch but this one is for five year olds. They spent way way too much time having 2 little bugs making weird bug talk noises and doing nothing else. It kept happening over and over and ended up wasting 25 minutes of the show. It was the least entertaining show of theirs I’ve seen. Save your money for the next one.

Got 2 adult 1 child plus $20 parking totaling $350.00 The seats were next to a pull out section and about 1/4 of the stage was blocked by that. The show was decent and they are very talented performers, acrobats, contortionist, tumblers etc...
The acrobatics were great when you got to see them did not care for the storyline there was a bit too much of the 3 clown actors and not enough of the performers. LAT
Over priced for the lack of quality show. Saw this in vegas and far superior
The show was great; maybe even jaw-dropping. I would highly recommend to anybody. I was very pleased.
Stick with the gymnastics and swinging. The theatrics were way too much for what we came for.
