Great venue, everyone in attendance got a great seat, fans were excited.
The Mt Shasta Bears team made it to the playoffs against a school 5 times its size. We got courtside seats and watch the game with excitement and anticipation. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience for our whole family.
Venue was amazing! Great game food on the other hand was pretty repulsive. My son and I ordered a cheeseburger and fries for a whopping 12 bucks, total 40 dollars to eat. We got our book at the 101 stand, cafe Bernardos (sp?) and it was horrible. In fact we both got sick!! I took one bite and it tasted almost rancid with a rubbery bun. Words can’t express!! I will never purchase food here. I really thought with all the hype of good restaurants catering here it would be worth the hard earned money. I did however love the venue like I stated prior. Seats were great!
Love the arena - plenty of room and very comfortable. Easy to get and easy to get out. Food inside and out excellent.
It was a fun event all in all, I just wish that when purchasing tickets for the event one can select which seats to purchase. Also the ticket master website does not have an interactive seating map of the venue which made it difficult to locate your seats after purchase.
Was a great experience. Price was good. Not a bad seat anywhere
I was impressed with everything my wife and I experienced at the CIF Finals in the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. The event was well organized, the Center was tremendous. I was especially glad the team we came to see played well. Frosting on the cake!
The fact that High Teams that don't normally make the playoffs were in the championship games.
So, the tickets were at first difficult to figure out how to print them out. The directions weren't that easy to follow for me. I was amazed at how much more the tickets were via Ticketmaster and of course all the obligatory surcharges for parking, fees, etc. They really rip you off at the Sleep Train Arena for food, etc. That was a bit of a bummer but I did have a great time with my 24 year old son watching the two Open games. They were amazing! Sorry our two teams got beat by the SoCal Teams but the displays of pure athleticism were amazing to experience. My son kept saying, "Are you sure these are High School teams?" That pretty much says it all. Sleep Train Arena web site is totally lame, not showing the entrance points and directions to parking, etc. The personnel there directing us in and taking the electronic tickets were super nice and helpful though! Seats were hard and old, broken down!; That new arena can't get there soon enough!
Chino Hills Boys team was the REAL DEAL!! De La Salle hung with them in the first half with some tough defense and aggressive drives to the basket but then Chino Hills brought Lob City to Sleep Train Arena. WOW!! The team can score inside and outside and having a 6'9" center enabled them to get out on the break earlier than DLS could defend them. The Ball brothers are who they say they were. Just incredible ball players and athletes. My son and I enjoyed seeing high level athletes on both teams do well in their Championship game. Now for the building facilities. It was very very hot in the building. We got to Sleep Train Arena at 6pm to watch the Girls Open Championship and the people coming out was saying how much cooler the outside was to being in the Arena. I'm glad I brought in some water otherwise I'd be coughing up a hairball. $20 for a ticket and these guys couldn't turn on the A/C or the Fans in the building. That was embarrassing for anyone associated with the building. I hope the venue changes somewhere where they can afford to take care of their customers..
Event was mellow and seemed well organized until when we arrived at our seats for the Girls Championship.. (Section 114 Row BB, seats 6 through 9). The first usher was fine and he directed us to the location of our seats. The second usher came by, checked our tickets and gave us wrist bands. 20 minutes later, the second usher came back again to check our tickets again and explained that our tickets would permit us to watch the current game, but if we wanted to watched the Boys High School Championship, we would need to relocate to the general admission seats. We didn't plant on seeing the second game, so that was fine. Just as the awards were being passed for the girls, the 2nd usher showed us yet again to ask us if we were in the wrong seats claiming that the next group of eight ticket holders couldn't take their seats. Excuse me, but she was interfering with our ability to enjoy the medal ceremony which was still going on and we have no idea where these 'eight people' were. No one was standing in the aisle nor was anyone standing with the usher. My husband got fed up with her constant presence, told her that she already checked out our tickets twice and announced "Forget it, we're leaving." Her presence tainted our evening. We would have given a 5 star review if otherwise.
Must see even. Open championship showcases future college stars
My family and I have attended the championships for the past 15 years, and we have always enjoyed our experience. Living in the bay area, we especially appreciated having the championships last year at UC Berkeley, a great venue. This year, however, we were a bit disappointed at the limited options of shirts and hats available to purchase, far less than in past years. The games were amazing! Coach Nick
Fun watching the best high school teams play. Venue employees were very nice.
It is ridiculous not to have programs at the California state championships. Officials could gauge how many were sold in the past and print that amount and sell the left overs at half price after the games. The trophies and medals do not live up to the accomplishment . Maybe we need one less official.
College Coaches in attendance to see these young athletes playing. Its a joy to see basketball played so fluid and natural, these guys have the passion and the desire to succeed. a great sporting night out.
Tickets should not go on sale untill all games have bee played. Having serveral games played all day and no re entry is terrible. The seats are to small and hard. The ref. did a bad job of officiating. Some of the proceed should go to the schools. Parking is too expensive to not be able to re enter. This event should have been held at the Orale Arena in Oakland since most of the schools were from the Bay Area. The preferred seats should be sold per game not for the entire day.
Very limited concessions were open for business at this event. Did not spend any money on food. Looked for an espresso kiosk and found and empty, unmanned location that looked like it only had coffee. Waited and no one showed.
