by SexyTeeFree on 12/15/10Music Hall Center - DetroitMy husband Michael took me to see church girl for my birthday. The musical was so inspirational and the singing was out of this world. I can't wait until the DVD is released because it is worth watching over and over again. The cast was marvelous. Angela Winbush is soooo beautiful and her voice is still amazing. Everyone was so talented. I would recommend this musical to everyone.

Rating: 3 out of 5 Great Play...Sound Engineer Needs Serious Help!
by RYDOGG on 12/13/10Music Hall Center - DetroitThe play itself was good overall. I would give it a 7.5 - 8.0. If I had not just seen the Preacher’s Kid a few weeks prior to this of which the premise is very similar, I may have given it another ½ point. The Christmas show before the play was definitely A+++. The kids and young adults did a WONDERFUL job! The leading man who played the villain did a great job! He was very dislikable. The leading woman did a fantastic job as well. There were some AMAZING singers 9.7! The leading man who played the villain did a great job! He was very dislikable.I really didn’t get the part where the woman Pastor practically disrobed while singing, showing her bra and her midsection. If unintentionally then understandable, If not…then it definitely took away from the meaning of the song. The grandmother and the old lady with the walker were off the chain! The dialogue between the characters was precise and clear. The sound technician had a bad day… there were times where characters mic’s where not turned on and if I had not been sitting up front I couldn’t have heard what was being said. Between the missed mic cues and the very load piercing squawks, hopefully they got it together by the 8 o’clock show. Sound rating 4! I applaud the casting director for including all walks of life into the production. You guys have put together a good show with a fabulous cast 10!
