I’ve always enjoyed Chubby Checker and was excited to see him live. For an 81 year old man, I was blown away by his energy on stage. It is by far one of the best concerts I have ever attended. I only hope I get the chance to see him again.
Chubby Checker uses his own back up band of ACE younger, real rock musicians who consistently lock into a powerful, hypnotic rhythm. Though loud and fast, the pulsating effect is soothing perfection. The accents, energy, and polish elevate the experience. He blasts out of the box for a set's worth of songs, with no pauses in between, a la The Ramones. (Or maybe the Ramones were a la Chubby Checker?) So much more vibrant than the old recordings. Even later, as he engages the audience, the musical background never lags. Chubby is a great singer, shining throughout, but particularly soulful on "Changes", "Rollin with the Flow" and a Motown medley. Should have been in the first year of the RnR Hall of Fame! Easily a peer of James Brown and Jackie Wilson.
Had great seat in the 4th row, in the CENTER of the Stage. Could go again and watch Chubby Checker ALL OVER AGAIN. My wife Janet and me just LOVE IT SO MUCH.
He is has it after all these yr's. Awesome show & very in tune with the crowd. He literally hasn't aged and his voice quality is fantastic. The band was fantastic too, along with there light show. Chubby still bringin his A game to his show's
The concert was fun except for some problems. The sound system was not good, we could not hear the Drifters very well. After that we had to move away from the people behind us because they were screaming in our ears and being totally obnoxious. We will probably not attend a concert there again.
We were mostly a 'geriatric' audience but all of us sure can still rock and Twist with the best of them! Chubby got us all participating in the music with singing, dancing and cheering! He's as good (if not better) as he always was! The Drifters were good, too! Loved the whole show!!
F.M. Kirby Center is a great venue. We've been going to Kirby for more than 10 years, usually seeing 5-10 shows each year.
Enjoyed ever minute of the show! Chubby is a great performer and sung the great song. The band did a good job. It was the best show I have been to lately.
An absolute amazing show he is fantastic he is such a people person made the show unbelievable if you get a chance to see him I recommend you do so just twisting The Night Away!!!!
He went non stop for an hour and a half ! His back up band was great too ! He pulled many audience members to dance with him on stage . If you like rock n roll you will love this concert - 4 instead of 5 stars only because a costume change with a little longer concert time and variety (ex a few group vocals ) ps he signs autographs too !
Great performance! Best performer ever. Show started at 8:00PM and he never stopped until 9:40PM. Continuous songs and entertainment. Will be here again when he returns.
He has been doing this since 1959 and hasn't slowed down a bit. The show started on time, ran for over 90 minutes and it was nonstop. Chubby has great audience chemistry, gets people up and out of their seats and makes you a part of the show. Great!
I would highly recommend seeing Chubby Checker in concert! The price was excellent and we got more than our money's worth. Chubby was dynamic, sang right straight through from beginning to end of concert. He interacted beautifully with the audience. He shared information about himself, things I had never heard before. Just so dynamic, audience friendly, I couldn't have asked for a better concert! Go see Chubby and watch him twist, he is still cool!

The Genesee is a great venue for a music show with very good acoustics & this was a great show. Obvious that these performers were there to entertain even though it was a bitterly cold night before New Years when the audience size was not ideal. They each had their own band and can't believe they made much money on the show but gave it their very best. Mary Wilson performed despite having the flu. Could tell it was affecting her initially but gained strength by the audience response to her performance. By the end of the show she was performing strong. The highlight was when she invited audience members onstage as backup dancers while she sang a medley of Supremes hits. She also shared stories of her time with the Supremes. Martha Reeves was also strong but had fewer hit songs. Chubby Checker was the star of the show and his voice & physicality were very strong. He sang his hit tunes as well as other hits from other legends of his era. He had an extremely talented 5-piece band who although much younger than him, complemented his singing & dancing style. At one point he went into the audience to dance with audience members. The highlights were his last 2 songs - Twist & Twist Again. He brought a few woman onstage to Twist with him. If you are a lover of older rock & roll as well as the Motown sound, you need to see these legends while you can. The average audience size was senior, but we were dancing in the aisles and sore the next day....but it was well worth it!
The evening we saw them in Chicago, I believe it was 1 or 2 degrees above zero.To see these folks still on the road I appreciate and applaud their resilience. I heartily recommend their show.
This show was much better than we expected. Chubby Checker is amazing ! He has been performing since 1958, He's got to be in his 70tys He looks incredible! ,He still looks,sings and dances like he's 40 years old . Everyone was on their feet ..Great show !
Sit thru Mary Wilson and Martha Reeves. (We almost walked out) So glad we stayed. Chubby puts on a great show. What a classy entertainer! At 76yrs He is doing the twist with ladies in the audience. He really gets the audience participating. Very enjoyable evening after all.
I have attended many retro concerts over the years but I have never smiled as much or enjoyed myself as much as I did with Chubby Checker. The man is absolutely charming, still has a good voice with excellent range, has a great set of musicians, and is so charismatic that the evening flew by. I would go see him again any time because he gives you more than your money's worth. Highly recommended.
We sat in the first row (center) and was never more than 5 to 10 feet away from him the entire evening. We got to shake his hand a couple of times. What I learned was he is more than an entertainer, but someone who genuinely cares about his audience. Finally, I can't believe I got these 2 tickets at face value($49) thanks to the Ticketmaster representative.
