Having to show ID and Vax Card is over the top. You get inside the arena, only the staff is wearing cloth masks, that don't stop anything. Even most of the Police were not wearing the masks. This is nothing more than "Virtue Signaling" to whom I do not know.
Great to have the HS State Wrestling Championships back at Ball Arena. There is no better venue to enjoy the competition. This is regarded as one of the best State Championships in the country.
What a joke that CHSAA tried to make everyone who entered ball arena for high school state wrestling last weekend show proof of vaccination or negative Covid test. Nobody took them serious and many people just went around and did not show proof of anything. People would wear a mask to enter the building and then take it off immediately after. Nice try CHSAA. Even the staff at Ball arena thought it was a joke!
I thought the mask mandate and proof of vaccination was a crock!! The tournament itself was good.
It was a good finals, it was what we are used to seeing in the parade of Champions and the seating hasn’t been the same since CHASSA changed it’s seating. We are big wrestling fans , I wrestled in the 70s and our twin sons in 2005- 2008 at state. Just seems to be getting more and more expensive, I believe we should not have to spend hundreds of $ for a High School event especially how everything is now a days with work and Covid and a lot of families aren’t as wealthy as as others and have kids wrestling it’s just hard for a lot of people!
I have an option to buy one ticket for all six sessions that was ridiculous to buy that many. We should’ve only had to show our VAX card once. Also you should drop that it is stupid. But all in all I think it was a great venue and fun to watch the boys. Too expensive for all 6 sessions
The event was run very smoothly. There could have been more food options with healthier choices…in all honesty the food wasn’t good and we were stuck inside for hours without being able to bring anything in from the outside. The ticketing system/transfer process was quirky and can be improved.
The young people did an outstanding job. They gave us their best. Everyone was a winner. The wrestling tournament has always been a dignified event. The new management put on some sort of crazy loud music with disco club lights event making the wrestlers run to their mats. The music hurt everyone's ears. The lighting was annoying. Please do not do this again. Please bring back our dignified event. The wrestlers deserve better. Let's focus on them.
Well run tournament. Great sound system . Would have been better if the doors were opened earlier.
CHASSA requires the venue to be vacated once a day to charge another admission, this is ridiculous for the girls bracket. Not to mention they changed the seeding for girls for their season record, which negates the purpose of regional placing. Come on CHASSA, be consistent! Let me end with the failed effort for COVID-19 compliance - no one was wearing a mask, because we are over it... maybe you should be too!!!!
I enjoyed the event. having .the girls was a great idea. I have not missed one since 1978.
I didn’t care for the girls wrestling to the only ones to wrestle center stage , when they have the smallest numbers of competitors. I also didn’t like how rushed the awards were handled. My biggest complaint was the big screen scrolled from match to match as far as scores and not Identifying who was wrestling on what mat. All other sessions but finals were very clear and easy to follow. How do you mess up the format at the finals
Honest opinion??? Having to prove being vaxed or negative test each time....why not issue wrist bands etc...standing in long lines, then you only open 2 doors...shoulder to shoulder, unmasked and then have to put a mask on for entry...and then 98% of us took off masks as soon as our electronic ticket cleared...and having to have everything on your phone was a pain....younger generation fine but for the older generation it was a nightmare....it was a long three days with all these new changes....was thankful that the weather was nice for Friday and Saturday while standing in line....Thursday was a cold one. Doors need to open in time so you can be sure to be inside by the time the wrestling starts.!!!
The facility was poorly kept and the prices were ridiculously high. The quality of food/snack was subpar.
Check in was easy as Security and Staff was all pleasant at each check spot in the sixth session along with the first five with General Admission! You can’t say enough for the wrestlers that gave 100 % on each Match ! The referees were were at their Best Performance with integrity and best of judgment. The Wrestling in the fist match of Finals was Magnificent and very well done! Looking forward to next year!
Way too expensive for families trying to watch their kids.
This is a wonderful event. The only thing I would change is the price of tickets, the price of parking, and constantly having to show my vax card.
Definitely needed to open more doors to get in. The line was ridiculous. Was not a fan of this years parade of Champions. The lights were a nice touch. The award presentation needs a lot of work.
Venue was good I would like programs to come back they are nice as souvenir and wrestlers pictures and articles! Want Parade if champs back!!!! Like wrestler and coach recognition! The announcement of each wrestler when their match is up was nice! Hated awards at end it was a massive cluster! No organization or wrestlers were not focus on award stand! Need to put award stand with placers on Jumbotron for all area to see!!
The tournament was amazing as always. Well run the use of trackwrestling makes it very easy to follow. The athletes were so talented. Great emotional and exciting event. The venue was a good size and it was easy to see all the matches.
