  • Great performance by a great musician

by Anonymous on 3/26/13Palace of Fine Arts - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5

If you you're a huge Girls fan and are expecting to see a Girls show, then this may not be for you. If you are familiar with the direction he is trying to go as a solo artist and like his new material on lysandre then it is a great show. Chris is a great songwriter, and his live performance is always intimate and warm. Not much of a stage presence, but if you've seen Girls perform you already know he's kind of a shy guy and just lets the music speak for itself.

The musicians on stage were good and they sounded pretty nice. But I didn't feel much energy happening on stage.

  • Disappointed

Wow, I haven't been to a live show in a long time that was so lifeless; he interchanged between sitting and standing; stage was nicely set up and ready for a great night of music; then came a totally flat performance; couldn't hear the two girl singers who looked uncomfortable trying to dance to the time of the music; the guy on the sax and flute didn't appear well integrated, he never said anyting to the audience of note despite the intimate setting; the covers were obligatory and not redfined in a meaninful way and he played for about an hour. All in all it was a vacant bland show devoid of energy and frankly interest. Why did you bag the Girls gig?! Nothing even came close to approachinig the freshness of the Girls disc. Boring.

  • Christopher Owens nails it again!

Always weary of seeing a solo performance after a member has been part of something so great (e.g. Girls) but Christoper Owens did not disappoint. Very personal, heartfelt and sincere performance. The band was great as well. Encore covers were a great touch. Would definitely see him again!

He sounded good live and overall it was a pretty good show, but it took about 20 minutes longer than expected for him to come on and he wasn't crowd interactive at all. He also didn't play anything from Girls, which is understandable but I was expecting some fan favorites.

  • Weird show

really short first set with lots of hippy dancing from back-up singers. Second set entirely covers of 60s songs. Felt like I was at a show for my parents.
