the Venue, Chevy and the movie were great, not the interview

by Joan on 2/21/20Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

The theater was lovely as always. The film was as funny or funnier on the big screen and hearing everyone laugh made it even more enjoyable. The lady who interviewed Chevy obviously had no idea who Chevy was or why he is heralded as one of the best modern day comedians. She READ his bio like someone would read a bio of an unknown mushroom hunter. She did not motivate him, encourage him or stimulate him to talk. Chevy being 70+ was a bit forgetful and perhaps overwhelmed by all the questions and the interview. She did nothing to help him or smooth out the quiet moments while he tried to remember. She was unprepared and did not seem to have done any research on him. She Was a total Dud. Had they had someone with a personality who at least knew of Chevy, the interview would have been So much better and more spontaneous. She let him flounder with no support. Most Columbus DJs, even Joel Bradley would have been so much better in that role. very disappointing. Any one would have been honored and thrilled to pieces to be in her place. She had the enthusiasm of a pebble.

Overall: Awesome!! I love Chevy Chase movies.

by JJS on 1/1/20Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

I think it would have been better if he would have been given the questions before so he would have had time to think about his answers. He is getting up their in age and I think it took him awhile to think about answers or was confused how the questions were written. Also, I purshased VIP ticket and wasn't given info on what would happen for VIP ticket holder. I was hoping for autographs and pictures, they did take picture on their camera, but you were limited and didn't get to see if it was a good picture. No autographs and didn't even get to talk to him, but I still think it was worth it.

Great movie, not so great Q & A

by Looking for more Christmas spirit on 12/31/19Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

We were obviously excited and ready to start Christmas week with National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and an interview with Chevy Chase. Unfortunately Chevy and the host did not seem as excited. The movie was great and put everyone in the spirit of Christmas but when Chevy came on stage he did not seem to be excited to be there, was a bit disheveled and somewhat disinterested. The moderator strictly ready from a series of cards and did little or no follow up on the topics Chevy did seem interested in talking about. Everyone was mostly interested in anecdotes about the movie and filming and other behind the scenes topics. She regularly jumped back and forth from SNL to Caddyshack and other points in his career. While that could have been interesting, at times it seemed to confuse Chevy. While I don't expect someone of his age to remember all of the details due to the partying scene he was a part of, it would have been nice for him to show a vested interest in being there. That is why we all came out - to watch his movie and see and listen to him and hear some interesting stories. Had the moderator and Chevy had some conversation prior to coming on stage to set the scene for what he was comfortable talking about it would have helped immensely.

    Disappointing

by BigPowder on 12/25/19Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

An Evening with Chevy Chase is such a great concept, and I was excited to see this come to Columbus. Unfortunately, the event itself was sub-par. The movie screening went well, and it was so much fun seeing Christmas Vacation with a live audience. The Q&A though is where things took a turn. The interviewer/host was both nervous and unprepared. She provided mostly basic or incredibly specific questions to Chevy, and Chevy himself gave mostly rambling, incoherent answers. She failed to adjust her style to him or the roust audience, which kept shouting out questions and even some answers on behalf of Chevy. Could have been so much better.

    So-So

by Hippity on 12/24/19Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

Not worth the price. Chevy didn’t answer all the questions either because he forgot the question or went off on another tangent. Talked too much about SNL and other stuff and not a lot about why he was there for. Even someone from the crowd yelled up to him on stage to talk more about Christmas Vacation.

    Christmas Vacation with Chevy

by Blizz on 12/24/19Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

The Palace has great speakers and was a wonderful movie venue with staggered seating so your vision was not blocked by heads in front. Chevy showed his ability to still be a world class comic with impromptu additions. The only down of the evening was 50 year old individuals that cannot handle their alcohol and was causing disturbances, spilling liquor on others prompting pushing and shoving between floor 3 and 4 sections. Love Chevy !!!

    Chevy seemed tired

by Get A Life on 12/24/19Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

Had a wonderful time watching the movie in the beautiful Palace Theater with everyone. I loved the Q&A and being able to get pictures with Chevy afterwards but by the time the movie was over I felt like Chevy was very tired and not real enthusiastic about the event. Maybe for future events you could move the Q&A and the meet and greet to before the movie.

    Chevy Chase disappointing

by Kiwikim on 12/24/19Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

I enjoyed watching the movie on the big screen but for what I paid for the photo opt meet and greet was very disappointing...no autograph, absolutely no interaction at the photo was so disappointing. You could have just sat a wax figure in the chair and got a picture probably for a lot cheaper...the guy grunted at us when we said hello WTH..guess your choice of actors was wrong in my opinion. NOT at all what i expected...won't go again if you chose to bring him back.

    Holiday movies

    by m. on 12/24/19Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

The show would’ve been great, but everyone in my family of 12 were complaining when we left because of the uncomfortable seating. The cushions are worn down to the point that coils are digging in your bottom. To sit for 3 hours was VERY painful. We will be back after updates to seating has been fixed
