    Just One Angel....splendid!!!

by Pfunny on 12/25/12Birchmere - Alexandria

I've long been a fan of Christine Lavin and she did not disappoint...her humor, intelligence, and amazing musicianship were on full display! I'd not heard Uncle Bonsai previously and based on the show of hands when they asked who in the audience was hearing them for the first time, I was not alone. They earned many new fans that evening...incredible harmonies; humorous, biting, and poignant lyrics; amazing guitar playing...they were great. A fun cameo by Debi Smith, whose soaring soprano and intense drum playing were mesmerizing, added an unexpected element to the evening.

    Loves Lavin

by careno on 6/6/10The Ark - Ann Arbor

I have seen Christine Lavin numerous times (at least five!) Absolutely love her and the amazing craftsmanship that is involved in her songwriting. Christine is actually a "wordsmith" with the voice of an angel. Overall I thought this concert was very good but sadly not one of her best. There was too much time spent on reading exerpts from her new book (yes I know she has to sell books but A) we already have the book and B) this was a concert, not a bookclub meeting!) Would have loved to have heard more of Christine's classics (especially since this was her 25th anniversary tour) But from Christine's staples bringing the men on stage for "Sensitive New Age Guy", her baton twirling (with new green lights!!!), her involving the audience in her show (birthdays, singing), her charm, her wonderful voice....I would still go see her again and again and again!

Christine Lavin - Amazing and Unforgettable!

by Lablond on 3/14/10Gordon Center for Performing Arts - Owing Mills

25 years later, Christine is still the lighthearted song writer she was when she first started. Her songs are touching and funny and point out the obvious in every day life. Her voice is as clear as a song bird on a bright early morning, which only makes you want to sit and listen to her longer! The Don White performance was funny and poignant and a wonderful compliment to Christine's talent. These two performers give you an evening of fun and laughter and sing along songs that you won't forget.

Christine and Don ut on a great show!

by VaRoy on 3/14/10Gordon Center for Performing Arts - Owing Mills

Christine Lavin has always tried to give visibility to deserving folk acts that people should know about. She's done it again with Don White, who is a combination folksinger and stand-up comedian. Christine as always amazed us with her many talents ranging from using a digital recorder to create astonishing sounds on the spot to twirling neon-lit batons. Don sang his great songs about family life with and without teenagers (Rascal and Be 16 with Me) and told sidesplitting stories. Bith read from their recent books. I only wish more Baltimorons had known about them so that more could ave shared the delightful experience.
