About

CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

Chris Botti pays a hot Trumpet. He has a great personality. He interacts with the audience. I truly enjoyed his show. His Special Guest was Renee Olstead, she was very good too. I would buy tickets to see his concert again. He had John Meyer as a suprise guest at the end of the show.

    Beyond fantastic!

by Lovesdogs on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Botti is at the top of his game and getting better as are his great haircuts. If ever there was a perfomer that has a love affair with the trumpet he has perfected his craft. This was the third time I've seen Chris and he just keeps getting better and better. Thanks for always putting on such great shows!

Chris Botti & friends at the Greek Theater

by KarenH on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I loved Chris Botti's show at The Greek Theater yesterday(7/9/09) where John Mayer was the surprise of the night. You could hear the ladies squee with excitement when John came out to sing "In The Wee Small Hours" for the first of two encore songs. He was great and made a big impression, coz the attendees were still exclaiming even after the show that they were impressed. Chris gave John big props saying he has a classic talent like Sting and Frank Sinatra and will have a long career. I could just see the John that Chris described e-mailing him before the show asking," Shouldn't we at least talk about the song arrangement?" I guess pros, like the ones we saw tonight, can just wing it and get it so right! Chris and company were awesome. The guest violinist, Caroline Campbell (sitting in for a wounded Lucia Macharelli) played Emanuelle and Cinema Paradiso with so much passion I almost cried. Even the mic-ing problems which caused 2 false starts did not detract from the final effect. Sy Smith, who sang several songs, such The Look Of Love and What'll I Do, was off the chart with her vocal artistry. Chris gave his incredible band of musicians lots of room to shine. Billy Kilson, who is my personal-favorite drummer, gave an unbelievable solo that can only be described as impossible. But he made it so! Of course, Chris was the star of the night with his beautiful trumpeting the his unique instrument, the Martin Committee 1939, which he treasures and plays with the greatest of chops. The set included songs from A Thousand Kisses Deep (my favorite), Italia and some Live From Boston tracks and others. As John said you must see this concert! The night was opened by Renee Olstead who sang jazz standards and a self-penned blues tune with a voice that sounds much more mature than her 17 or 18 years. That young lady willl be around thrillling ears for many years to come.

    Blown Away

by NikkiNoelS on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I have always admired Chris Botti’s talent, and had the unique opportunity to meet him a couple of weeks ago on Sunset Blvd while he was having sushi and saki a couple tables away from mine. I excitedly went home that night and looked to see when he would be performing next in LA. I was so happy when I discovered it was so soon at the Greek Theatre. This would be my first time to hear him live! Last night, I was blown away! His music pulled at my heart strings. I could have listened all night. Not only is his musical performance enchanting but he has a way of charming the audience with his sense of humor and beautiful speaking voice. I will definitely make an effort to hear him perform again. Hopefully, at the Fabulous Fox in St. Louis, my home town.

    Exuberatingly fullfilling

by KK35 on 7/10/09Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

The evening was chilly but the sound was passionately straightforward providing a keepsake of unforgettable warmth. All you need do was close your eyes and drift away to serenity. The entire performance was evidence of grace, praise, collaboration, communication, positive emotions throughout. Most enjoyable evening spent in all my trips to the Greek over the past years. Felt as if I had gone to Italy in person for the two songs that the violinist participated in, incredible sound!

What more can I say? I wish the concert went on for another 2 hours. His band was tight and Sy Smith was excellent. She should be Chris' opening act. Showmanship of Chris and his band was also excellent.
