This was my second year going to Open Air and it was really nice to be part of the crowd again. The food is great, the set up of the venue works well, and the meet-and-greets are great. The method of selling albums/CDs and basically getting a free signing along with your purchase is really nice. I was also very happy that the venue was selling clear drawstring bags this year instead of solid colored ones so we could reuse the bags the rest of the weekend.
My critiques of the venue would be that merch tables would sometime only sell shirts on the days that the bands were playing which was a bit annoying but I could understand if the bands were smaller, but the larger bands, I feel, should be sold for more than one day. Some of the CDs sold out before you were able to buy them, I know it is first come first serve but if you only have two different CDs for one band and one of them sells out after the first day it is kind of a bummer. The last critique I have is that the food lines got ridiculously long some times, so maybe there is something that could be done about that for future Chicago Open Airs (but otherwise the food was very good).
