Chase Atlantic in Concert
While Australia has produced plenty of incredible, genre-busting bands, few are as defiantly chameleonic as Chase Atlantic. The youthful trio—Christian Anthony and brothers Clinton and Mitchel Cave—are obviously fond of the sleek R&B-pop originating in Canada (think Drake and The Weeknd) as well as glitchy modern U.S. hip-hop. But the group's 2017 self-titled debut also alights on rakish '80s soul-pop, One Direction-style power pop, and even incandescent slow jams.
Not even many seasoned groups can handle so much genre hopscotching, although the members of Chase Atlantic are no strangers to exceeding expectations. Prior to coalescing in the band, the young Cave brothers were avid YouTube performers known for their uploads of covers by acts such as Bruno Mars, Owl City, and Ed Sheeran. Anthony and Mitchel Cave were also in a quintet called What About Tonight, which gained notoriety after appearing on "X Factor Australia" and being praised by One Direction on the show.
For the three musicians, however, deciding to pool their talents in Chase Atlantic paid immediate dividends. 2014's ‘Dalliance' EP quickly led to 2015's ‘Nostalgia' EP—which featured the hip-hop-infused modern rock tune "Friends," a wrenching postmortem on a crumbling relationship—and 2016's saxophone-aided funk/R&B swerve "Obsessive." Around this time, Chase Atlantic inked a deal with MDDN, the artist-focused music company founded by Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden.
This association not only led to Chase Atlantic opening Australian Good Charlotte shows, but also helped the band take a giant global leap forward. Today, the band is poised to conquer the world, thanks to tours with Sleeping With Sirens and Lights, as well as a stint on the 2018 Warped Tour. In other words, Chase Atlantic is bound and determined to put Australia on the map once again—and is clearly on the verge of succeeding.
Great show. My new favorite band. They sound even better live!
Everything was incredible!!! The band was awesome, the employees were great, I’d love do it all over again!!!
My best friend and I went to see CA at the Fillmore in Charlotte and we had VIP/Gen Admin tickets. The tickets weren’t stupid expensive so we had money left for merch, and there was a cute little selection. ☺️ They band members were all nice and just as happy to see us as we were to see them. They told us we were the best crowd they’d played on that tour, maybe ever. The venue staff had a strict attitude about security(searches, checking IDs/tickets) but were all very kind to us during the process and were happy to answer any questions we had about what is and isn’t allowed (you can’t buy merch, go put it in your car, then try to re-enter the venue. I still got two tee shirts and two hoodies. 🤷🏼♀️) Literally the best day of my life. 10/10. 🤩🤩
The opening act Lauren Sanderson was great. She really got the crowd worked up and put on a highly personalized show. None of those "cookie cutter" performances from her! Then the band took the stage and kept the momentum going on an upward trend. Between the stage presence and talented performing these guys put on a very good show. I had never heard of Chase Atlantic before and was "only a dad" taking his daughter and friend to the show. I truly enjoyed the entire experience. The venue was large enough to allow the "crowd experience" while still ensure an "intimate" performance. Besides the songs and performances, I was happily surprised by the encouraging words that both Lauren Sanderson and Chase Atlantic sincerely gave to the kids in the audience. They spoke of self-acceptance and not giving up on your dreams. This completely took me aback because due to the slightly harsh language used at times during their previous "chats" with the crowd, I didn't expect that these words would be spoken. Totally worth the minimal cost of the tickets and standing for several hours at the back of the crowd.
Their passion, engagement, and energy were absolutely breathtaking. The light were also crazy and so cool. I knew they’d be amazing but they were definitely wayyy better than I expected. Couldn’t be happier!!
They were polite and entertained the crowd. The music was amazing live. Saxophonist was amazing. Even got a guitar pick from the guitarist. The venue was wonderful and everything was so nice.
I had so much fun at the concert. I haven’t been to a lot of them, but the vibe not only the band but the fans gave off was amazing! I’ve been listening to them for so long, I never thought they’d come here. I’d be the happiest person in the world if they came back!
The Chase boys were amazing as always and the set was insane. It was kind of a short set but it was worth it and one of the best concerts I’ve been too. It was hot inside the TLA venue but its one of the best places to see a show. Thank you for an awesome night.
Super energetic and crazy! So happy to see the first show, I had a blast!!
Chase Atlantic always puts on an amazing show: they’re such an incredible band
could’ve been a bit colder. was hot as hell and they trashed my water at the door so i was actually going to pass out mid show.
The most amazing concert i have ever been to. i love them so much
Great show, great energy, long setlist, and very talented musicians. 11/10 would recommend you show the Aussie boys some love
Chase Atlantic was amazing, they killed it on stage!
Chase Atlantic's performance was absolutely wonderful. They were really involved with the audience and had a great stage presence. They are always working on new music, merch, and concepts for their tour. When they perform, you can see all their hard work manifest on stage and it is amazing to watch. They are touring with R I L E Y and Cherry Pools, who also put on killer performances and their music meshes well with Chase Atlantic's sound. Buy a ticket now and you won't regret it! I highly recommend the VIP meet and greet too.
This is my second time seeing and meeting them they put on one of the best performances I have ever seen. I recommend checking out their music and then going to a show you won’t regret it.
It was the best night of my life, I raged like never before. I had so much fun I now have post concert depression lol
I drove from NorCal to Las Vegas to see Chase Atlantic and I'm so glad I did. They were the last band that I saw at Warped Tour and I was so hype. They have a lot of good energy and of course the music bangs. Great stage presence and they know how to pump the crowd. I only wish their set was longer!!
This band is so good live -- Christian and Mitchel are great at pumping up the audience and Clinton's saxophone adds so much to the live sound!
