    Perect for Children

by Arhaus on 8/13/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The musical was very true to the book so our granddaughters followed the story easily. The music provided by the actors was a perfect addition to excellent actors. Templeton the Rat was always in character with a lot of energy and added humor. Charlotte was the calm loving spider and Wilbur was exceptional.

    Wonderful

by FrankMus on 8/13/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

We took our granddaughter to see the play. She loved it. The play was done very well and the actors should be complemented for their performances and being so engaging with the audience.

Great show for young ones. Not too long for their attention. Players were interactive with children before and after the show.

    The Web was wonderful

by KTVZ on 8/12/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

We went to this play without our kids and regretted that we got to see a wonderful play without them. It was very entertaining. The cast was fun and lively and Wilbur was the best little pig!

    So inventive

by susie2cue on 8/10/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Sweet and lively production of Charlotte's Web which did not "gloss over" Charlotte's death. Rather it emphasized the cycle of life and thus was very illuminating in a non-frightening way for children. I'm a grandmother and I loved it. All the cast were excellent.

    good clean fun

by grandmas78th on 8/10/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Took great grandma for her 78th birthday with a 4 and 7 yr old. It was the perfect length, no intermission needed. We all enjoyed it thoroughly. It was true to the book. Templeton was a lot of fun. Costumes were very simple but still clever. Our 4 yr old liked Charlotte and her not too scary spider dress. (They could beef up the 8 ribbons on her dress a little so that when she twirls you could see that she has 8 legs.) Kid actors did a good job. If you sit in the first 5 rows you miss some of the running around through the audience unless you really turn around in your seats.

    My 4-year-old son loved it!

by Sally12312 on 8/9/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I took my son, who is 4 years old, to see Charlotte's Web in July 2014. The tickets were cheap and we sat in the 2nd row. The cast was composed of adults and children, who were all excellent. At first my son wanted to go home and was disinterested. About ten minutes into the show, he really liked it. His favorite character was the mouse, who was played by a man who was hilarious! My son and I had a great time and I would bring him back in a heartbeat!

Great little production of a classic!

by TinleyMom on 8/6/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Theatre itself is nicely done, minimalistic, small, not a bad seat in the house as far as I could tell. And there's tons of leg room (I'm 5-11, and I have never had so much room at a theatre!). The show itself was very well done. The young actors were spot on, and the veterans were fantastic! Templeton stole the show for me, so hysterical! Charlotte was quaint and lovely. The script holds the book true to heart, and for the younger audience members, it addresses Charlotte's passing gracefully. I admit to having a lump in my throat. The costumes were also great, I can describe them as character-esque... A cute yellow dress with a fluffy peplum waist for the goose, etc. All around, it was a lovely production. My 7year old daughter loved it! Oh! And the cast signed mini autograph books for the young audience members after the show! A real treat, worth waiting in line for, so thanks to the cast for staying in character long after their performance!

Charlotte's Web is something to see!

by RKGK on 7/28/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I went with my two granddaughter's ages 4 and 2. Before the play started the characters were playing music and walking around. That was great because sometimes little ones are frightened when characters pop out from behind the stage. I had never been to a play put on by the Emerald folks, but I highly recommend them. There are not scary big animals they are real people which I think are great for little ones. The two year old sat the whole time. The whole time.......I couldn't believe it. She would ask questions about where did they go, etc. The content was easily understandable by the four year old. I was a bit worried about the death of Charlotte but the explanation and acting was superb! Cheers and I can't wait for Hanzel and Gretel!

    Marvelous!

by ReadingTeachMama on 7/28/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Charlotte's Web was magicial! My four-year-old son and I just read the book together this summer, so it came at the perfect time--he LOVED it! As someone who is a lifelong fan of the book and is always hesitant about performances of any kind of my favorite books, I was truly thrilled with the adaption of the book here. Actual lines from the book were used, the play remained entirely true to the story, and the acting really brought to life those beloved animals from Zuckerman's barn. The actors were truly something special, and the costuming was superb--the extra touches like Charlotte's lacy dress with eight legs, the way the geese seemed like they had feathers, held their feet and walked all made them truly believeable, especially for my four-year-old. I'd recommend this play to anyone, young or old, who is a fan of this beloved book.

    Great show for children!

by Anonymous on 7/26/14Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

This is our 3rd Emerald City show. Charlottes's Webb was great, kept my 6 year olds attention. The cast came out before the show and walked the aisles. The costumes were simple yet creative. Great acting and musical talent. Not a bad seat in the theater. Same storyline, but with an imaginative touch. Loved that the actors met with audience members after the show for autographs. We will be back next year! Only disappointment is that for the last 2 years after I purchased tickets, I received email updates that discount tickets were available for the shows we were going to see.
