The Gap Band alumnus and adult contemporary R&B superstar Charlie Wilson has been dazzling audiences and listeners with his sultry vocals since the takeoff of his solo career in the early 2000s. Charlie Wilson's tour dates feature an electrifying energy more akin to a tight-knit party than a sold-out concert, as seen in his 2017 In It To Win It Tour, his 2015 Forever Charlie Tour and his 2013 Love, Charlie Tour, among many others. Wilson is known for his smooth funk & soul singing style, which, combined with his talents as a songwriter, producer and keyboardist, has led to the creation of numerous R&B hits over his eight solo studio albums. On stage, Charlie puts on a show with an unmatched level of energy. He beckons crowds to take to their feet and feel the music as his band delivers with tightly composed rhythms and he serenades with his dulcet melodies. In addition to praise from fellow performers, Charlie Wilson's music has earned him 11 Grammy Award nominations, six NAACP Image Award nominations (along with one win for Outstanding Album), and numerous honors from BET, Billboard and Soul Train, along with acknowledgements from across the music industry and beyond.
Charlie Wilson Background
Charlie Wilson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1953. The son of a Christian minister, he learned to play piano and sing in church, providing the musical background that led to the formation of The Gap Band with his brothers Ronnie and Robert. After the group announced their retirement in 2010, Charlie shifted his focus to concentrate on his solo career, becoming Billboard Magazine's No. 1 Adult R&B Artist and a breakout success. Wilson's first solo album, Bridging The Gap, came in 2000, earning him acclaim from the single "Without You." His follow-up release, Charlie, Last Name Wilson, went certified gold and produced the eponymous single (along with fellow R&B vocalist R. Kelly) by which he is most often known. In subsequent years, Charlie Wilson continued to release and chart on the Billboard Hot 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop charts and sold more than 1 million copies of his albums. Wilson has inspired generations of performers who also feature him on their own records. He was given the affectionate nickname "Uncle Charlie" by Snoop Dogg and collaborated with the rapper (and Justin Timberlake) on the 2013 track "Signs.
This was my first time seeing Charlie Wilson in concert and wow what a phenomenal performance.I did not know what to expect but I was so happy with the show.He as well as the backup singers did an awesome job.The singing was great as well as the music and band.We had so much fun and I would definitely recommend attending a Charlie Wilson concert in the future!

I have been to so many concerts over the years, and Charlie Wilson is by far one of my top 3 performers. Johnny Gill also did a spectacular performance, but Charlie stole the show! 71 years old and he still got the moves and youthful voice. Johnny took us to church while Charlie took us to the club. The best of both worlds. If you ever have the opportunity to see Charlie Wilson in concert please take the opportunity, because I guarantee it will be one of the best shows you’ve ever been too! I will definitely back for you Charlie! Thank you for showin out for the old schools 🕺🏾🪩🥳🩷

Really loved seeing Charlie Wilson again! (This was my 3rd time at this venue; first time in the new updated indoor facility) Not a bad seat in this house! On the third level with some audio going in and out, but otherwise a fantastic event.
Loved, loved, loved the show! Both Johnny Gil and Charlie Wilson showed up and SHOWED OUT!!! It was also my first time seeing both. The venue was great too! The views were really good even from section 404 and the monitors were big and bright! I was really impressed with the venue and the show made it all 10xs better. I absolutely loved Charlie Wilson's performance from beginning to end. For his age....he did the damn thing!! If you still have an opportunity to them both, don't hesitate! You won't be disappointed.
Uncle Charlie always puts on a great show. This show was exceptional with the addition of Johnny Gill as the opening act. Great showmanship by both artists.
The concert was great; both Johnny Gill and Charlie Wilson delivered great show with memorable songs. I am not a great fan of Venue due to seating. Rows were very cramped and in order to get out regardless of which way you went, everyone had to stand up in order to get to the isle.
Show was lackluster. Needs to be updated. He is no longer able to do so much dancing, needs to do more musically. Leave most of the dancing to the dancers
Both Charlie Wilson and Johnny Gill were awesome. It was my first time seeing them both and I was not disappointed. The venue was gorgeous and you can see good from any seat you sat in. I am looking forward to the next event.

Charlie Wilson did an excellent job!! He always puts on a great show!! Johnny Gill I couldn’t really hear him very well when he was singing. It wasn’t clear, I expected so much more from him with the beautiful voice that he has. If was only dating. Harlow Wilson my score would be a 5 easily, I was very disappointed in Johnny Gill.
The show was great! Both artists took us to church which was awesome. Will definitely go again when he returns
I had a great time at the concert. Johnny Gill was good and Charlie came in and it was a party. That made my third time seeing him and I would go and see him again because he is Mr. Charlie Wilson.
What a great show. My wife and I got last minute tickets as I have never seen Charlie before. I’m so glad we did. His performance was awesome and vocals were on point ! Did some old school, new music and music that he was a part of composing and writing. Would definitely see him again. Johnny Gill opened and also put on a great performance.

I will see him a trillion times! The Gap Band hits & Uncle Charlie's hits as a solo artist. I look forward to hearing him sing his new hit live & in person. He is a "superman"& his voice is like butter, baby! 70 years old, some health issues but he dances his butt off & always gives God the praise! 👏🏽 🙌🏽 💃🏾 🕺🏿
I sooo enjoyed the Charlie Wilson concert. It was not hard to locate. I had great seats! The sound could have been better. Some of the songs were lower in sound than others.
I First love this venue for concerts. It was my first time seeing Charlie Wilson live. He sounded awesome, with the large song choices he has I’m glad he sang old, present and something new to look forward to. His band, background singers and dancers were good also. If he comes to Houston again I will attend
