About

Roald Dahl’s treasured tale is now Broadway’s Golden Ticket! It’s the perfect recipe for a delectable treat: songs from the original film, including “Pure Imagination,” “The Candy Man” and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” alongside a toe-tapping and ear-tickling new score from the songwriters of Hairspray.

And who better to conjure up this confectionary wonder than three-time Tony Award®-winning director JACK O’BRIEN, the Grammy® and Tony-winning songwriters of Hairspray, MARC SHAIMAN and SCOTT WITTMAN, and internationally acclaimed playwright, DAVID GRIEG.

Willy Wonka is opening his marvelous and mysterious chocolate factory…to a lucky few. That includes Charlie Bucket, whose bland life is about to sweeten with color and confection beyond his wildest dreams. He and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a mesmerizing joyride through a world of pure imagination. Now’s your chance to experience the wonders of Wonka like never before—get ready for Oompa-Loompas, incredible inventions, the great glass elevator and more, more, more at this everlasting showstopper!

Should have gone to see something else

by Anonymous on 5/3/17Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Too many changes from London show. If you're a fan of the original movie, or even the Depp version, you will not enjoy the changes and omissions here. Jackie Hoffman was great as Mrs. TeeVee, Borle's talents were wasted. Should have gone to see Sunset Blvd instead.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Fun

by Bmark5 on 5/3/17Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Fun for the whole family. Our kids are 7, 11 and 14 and they all loved it. Great special effects but not so much that it overshadows the Central story and acting. Christian Borle is superb!

    A Golden Ticket Show!

by Dugout212 on 5/3/17Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

A really great show featuring all the magic of Roald Dahl. Christian Borle was amazing as Willy Wonka. A thoroughly enjoyable experience at the theatre.

    why

by HDMG on 5/3/17Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

why did they modernize, why did they use every offensive stereotype. the added songs were not memorable. all the actors were great but unfortunately the show itself was not. the set was not a magical place that one would have hoped it would be. the concession stand was much more magical in comparison.

New Willie Wonka is Great Night at the Theatre

by Mosslight on 5/2/17Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

This new update of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features an excellent cast and some amazing sets. There are a few songs from the old movie, but the new material is top notch. The way they did the Oompah Loompah's was inventive and a whole lot of fun. The entire family can enjoy this show.

    Perfect for kids and adults

by Lolasnana on 5/2/17Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

My granddaughters and I couldn't stop raving about the show for days. Very appealing, uplifting, funny, full of surprises (even though we knew the book and both movie versions very well). Go see it.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory was Wonkerful!

by Aprilhrz on 5/2/17Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Bought tickets for this on an impulse and was afraid I might have buyers remorse. I had anything but! The play was really wonderful and I recommend it for "children" of all ages.

    Better in the UK

by WSCOD on 5/2/17Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

We were disappointed by the Broadway production- the London production was more opulent- the show seemed scaled down and cheap

    So Terrible It's Almost Funny

by NoelC on 5/2/17Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

There is so much going right on Broadway today - from family shows to edgy dramas. This is not one of them. The sets were so disappointing - cheap and looked like they came from a community theater production. The storyline vilifies fat people, ambitious people, and foreigners. The Oompa Loompas are a combination of Chuckie Finster and Chuckie the Killer Doll. There was a moment where I legitimately couldn't stop laughing because of how bad the show was.

A fun colorful confection of a musical

by RayQ on 5/1/17Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Family-friendly, but keeping true to some of Roald Dahl's original book (meaning there are some dark and somewhat sinister surprises in store), this musical preserves some of the beloved songs from the Gene Wilder movie, and adds new songs to move the story along. The comedy is strongly delivered by some Broadway powerhouses, and the design and staging of the show is creatively executed.

Fun score, disappointing chocolate factory set

by Meems62 on 5/1/17Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Shaiman & Whitman's score was fun and fresh. I expected to be thrilled by the chocolate factory set based on all the build up on the theatre exterior. The set was underwhelming and disappointing.
