About

Charlie Green, aka CG5, is a singer-songwriter, music producer and YouTuber from Arizona. Though CG5 rose to internet fame with his catchy meme-inspired songs and covers of video game music, he cites his biggest inspirations as icons of the ’70s and ’80s like The Doobie Brothers, Phil Collins and Hall & Oates. His most popular hit is a remix cover of “I Got No Time” by The Living Tombstone, which has garnered over 100 million views on YouTube. As of May 2024, CG5 has over 7 million subscribers on YouTube, making him one of the leading music creators on the platform. In addition to his music career, CG5 co-founded the non-profit organization CG5Thrive with his father, Chuck Green. Inspired by CG5's brother Jonah, the organization aims to provide enriching experiences and resources for adults with developmental differences. Green, who was diagnosed with autism, uses his neurodiversity to his advantage when creating, expressing that it’s allowed him to immerse himself in projects with hyper-focus, often writing and recording entire songs within hours.

  • CG5 was awesome

by Nate's dad on 11/15/25Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I have to admit, before the event I had never heard of CG5, but I was pleasantly surprised, he put on a great show. My son was so excited, he made a sign, and CG5 made a point to acknowledge him, it was just a second of two glance and a smile, but it made my sons week. He put on a great show, the kids loved him and he kept the energy level high... Great job

  • So. Much. Fun.

  • Daughter loved it

by Stevo on 2/4/25The Shelter - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

My daughter's first concert. She absolutely loved it. My 5 star rating is from her :) I went in not knowing what to expect. Not anything I would personally listen to, but he puts on a good show, and the songs are catchy. Mix of music and skits to tie the songs together. He interacts well with the crowd. My only complaint is the lack of live instrumentation, but maybe thats common for this style of music and I am just not familar with it. He occasionally pulls out an acoustic guitar, but most of the music is behind the scenes. To be fair, it was a small venue and stage.

  • BEST ARTIST EVER

    by cg5sigma on 11/7/24Rating: 5 out of 5

The Artistic Talent of CG5: A Modern Musical Phenomenon CG5, whose real name is Charlie Green, is a multifaceted artist and musician whose unique contributions to the world of music, particularly in the realm of video game and internet culture, have earned him a dedicated following. Known for his ability to blend catchy melodies with vibrant production and clever lyrics, CG5 has quickly become a prominent figure in the world of online music. His rise to fame reflects a broader trend of internet creators harnessing their talents to build substantial careers and engage with fans in innovative ways. This essay explores the artistic strengths of CG5, examining his musical versatility, lyricism, production skills, and the broader cultural impact of his work. Musical Versatility One of CG5’s most impressive qualities as an artist is his remarkable versatility across genres. While many of his early works were influenced by video games, particularly the Minecraft and Five Nights at Freddy’s communities, his music spans a variety of styles and influences. Whether producing pop, rock, electronic, or rap, CG5 is able to craft songs that are not only sonically interesting but also accessible to a wide audience. His ability to navigate different musical landscapes is evident in songs like "Build Our Machine,"a high-energy, rock-inspired anthem based on the Bendy and the Ink Machine game, and "FNAF Rap"which captures the eerie and suspenseful vibe of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. These tracks showcase CG5’s ability to blend the dark themes of the games with infectious rhythms and catchy hooks. At the same time, he has also demonstrated his skill in more mainstream pop territory, such as with "How Could You Forget,"a heartfelt and emotionally resonant song that explores themes of betrayal and heartache. His capacity to shift between genres while maintaining a consistent quality and emotional depth is a testament to his versatility as an artist. Lyricism and Storytelling Another key strength of CG5 is his ability to weave engaging stories into his songs. This is perhaps best exemplified in his game-inspired tracks, which often take the form of narratives that align with the themes of the games themselves. For example, his hit song "Build Our Machine,"inspired by Bendy and the Ink Machine, captures the eerie, twisted essence of the game's story about a once-thriving animation studio that has since descended into madness. CG5 uses vivid imagery and metaphor to craft lyrics that evoke the game’s atmosphere, making it more than just a fan tribute but an artistic reimagining of the game’s lore. Moreover, CG5 excels in writing lyrics that are both fun and meaningful. His ability to balance narrative depth with memorable hooks ensures that his songs are not only enjoyable to listen to but also resonate with listeners on an emotional level. In his song "Take the L,"CG5 channels frustration and determination, perfectly encapsulating the feeling of overcoming obstacles. Through his lyrics, he communicates universal themes of perseverance, resilience, and personal growth, which are highly relatable for his audience. Production and Musical Craftsmanship In addition to his lyricism, CG5’s skills as a producer play a major role in the appeal of his music. His tracks often feature lush, polished production that elevates his melodies and lyrics. Whether he’s layering electronic beats, incorporating live instruments, or adding vocal harmonies, CG5 has a knack for creating immersive soundscapes that captivate the listener. His attention to detail in production is evident in tracks like "FNAF Rap,"where the pacing of the song complements the intensity of the game’s atmosphere, and "Lurking in the Shadows,"a track that mixes dark synths with rhythmic beats to evoke the feeling of being pursued. CG5’s production also reflects a deep understanding of contemporary pop music trends. He often integrates elements of mainstream pop and electronic music, using techniques like drop beats, autotune, and synth-driven melodies, which help his songs fit within a broader musical landscape. This not only enhances the overall quality of his music but also helps him reach a diverse audience. His sound is polished and modern, demonstrating that he is not just a niche artist but one who is attuned to the ever-evolving music industry. Cultural Impact and Fan Engagement Beyond his musical talents, CG5 has managed to carve out a significant niche within the YouTube and gaming communities, gaining a large and dedicated fanbase. His music is widely recognized within fandoms that center on video games, animations, and YouTube personalities. However, his appeal goes beyond the gaming community, as his work also resonates with listeners who appreciate catchy, well-produced music, regardless of its origins.
