About

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN is the sparkling new musical comedy based on the hit DreamWorks film and the incredible true story that inspired it! Behind the magic is a Tony Award®-winning "dream team" - CATCH ME features a book by TERRENCE McNALLY (The Full Monty), a score by MARC SHAIMAN & SCOTT WITTMAN (Hairspray), choreography by JERRY MITCHELL (Hairspray, Legally Blonde) and direction by JACK O'BRIEN (Hairspray, The Full Monty).

AARON TVEIT (Next to Normal) stars as Frank W. Abagnale, Jr., an American teenager who runs away from home in search of a glamorous new life. Using nothing but his boyish charm and some phony checks, Frank successfully poses as a globe-trotting pilot, an ER doctor, and a hotshot lawyer - and gets a true taste of the high life! Tony winner NORBERT LEO BUTZ (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) is Agent Carl Hanratty, the determined FBI agent who's hot on Frank's trail. Don't miss this dazzling and hilarious new musical about being young, in love... and in deep trouble!

A very sad goodbye to all the song and dance

by sassyandella on 9/5/11Neil Simon Theatre - New York

I was fortunate enough to attend this performance with my mother, her mother, 12 year old cousin, two aunts and the mother of one of my aunts--a very diverse group. Everybody adored this show. Norbert Leo Butz delivers a sensational performance that earned him a well-deserved Tony award, Aaron Tveit brought a youthful presence to the production and his voice is pure magic. There was continuity, many laughs and a whole lot of heart. The ensemble was beautiful, the characters were well-developed, and the music was enthralling. I loved every moment of this production and I would give anything for these enormously talented (and equally humble) performers to get an extension on Broadway.

Catch Me if You Can, is worth catching.

by Anonymous on 9/5/11Neil Simon Theatre - New York

We spent a pleasant afternoon on September 3rd, 2011 attending a performance of Catch Me if You Can. The 2 leads Aaron Tveit as Frank Abagnale Jr. and Norbert Leo Butz as Carl Hanratty were outstanding. The first act had us laughing throughout, however the second act was not as good, but overall we enjoyed the play.

    Gone too soon

by NCThespis on 9/5/11Neil Simon Theatre - New York

I saw the penultimate performance of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. This was my third visit to the show. The New york critics were overly and unfairly harsh to this show. The cast was uniformly great, especially Norbert Leo Butz and the underrated Aaron Tveit. The chemistry between these two actors shown throughout the performance, and Mr. Tveit more than carried the burden of playing the lead and guiding the audience through the story. I regret that my friends won't be able to act on my recommendation.

    Catch me if you can

by Cannot on 9/5/11Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Superb performance from the entire cast. Mr. Butz as Agent Carl Hanratty at times sounded exactly like Tom Hanks. His sole performance the highlight of the show. The dancers were fabulous. Was quite interesting to have the orchestra behind the actors instead of usually in a pit and out of sight. Highly entertaining and a very interesting way to end the production. Must see!

    what a catch!

by broadwaysnob on 9/5/11Neil Simon Theatre - New York

The reviews were not that positive to say the least, but I went anyway because I liked the movie. Not expecting too much, I was pampered by a super presentation, great acting and catchy music. Didn't realize that aside from Norbert Leo Butz & Tom Wopat, the actor carrying the show was Aaron Tveit, whose name didn't ring a bell until I found out he played the role of Gabe in "Next to Normal" (he was terrific!).

    CLOSED TOO SOON!

by lcybroadway on 9/4/11Neil Simon Theatre - New York

There are not enough positive adjectives in the english dictionary to describe how wonderful this show is! The cast was so talented. The songs were fun and catchy! The dancing was amazing! Aaron Tveit is a rock star and I hope he continues to star in broadway shows! Norbert Leo Butz definitely deserved his TONY award for his performance! Kerry Butler was beautiful and her one solo is probably one of my favorite songs! It is a shame this show closed, but I am happy I was able to see it!

What a wonderful and entertaining show. Original in it's content, even thought I knew the story, I couldn't wait to see how the story would be presented as a musical. It didn't disappoint.

I loved the show - Norbert Leo Butz and Aaron Tveit were phenomenal! Great charisma, great sound. Some of the language was a bit unnecessary, but such is showbiz, I suppose. Overall, though, I loved it!

    Catch Me if You Can

by theaterbabe on 9/2/11Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Lots of fun and very energetic. The singing was terrific and several songs had great melodies. Hanratty's "Breaking all the Rules" was as good as it looked on the Tony Awards. All in all, a fun afternoon that was very entertaining.
