Great show! My son loved the story and sat through the entire show!
Both my grandson and I loved the production. It was very fast moving and entertaining.
It was a amazing experience for my daughter. The theatre is incredible and the ushers were very friendly and helpful. Having the actors at the exit was a great idea.
We had seen this a few years ago with our older grandchildren at the Magik Theatre and it was very good. So, we took our younger grandchildren this time and it just did not measure up. It seemed to have more "filler" that strayed pretty far from the book. Can't explain it, but it was just not as good as before.
This was such an amazing play for the young and young-at-heart! The Magik Theatre's Cast and Crew never disappoint. Bravo!
The Cat in the Hat performance was absolutely incredible.
I took my two grandchildren to see "Cat in the Hat" and was disappointed. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what it was...but something was missing that would/could have made it a memorable play. Although my grandchildren sat still and seemed to enjoy it, I would say that they were underwhelmed.
Acting, actors, production were all great. So why 2 stars? Well, the show was 25 minutes long! Not at all what we expected. As good as this short little production was, it was not worth the price we paid ($20-adults; $10/child) nor worth the 40 minute drive. Suggestion....string two short productions like this together to make it worthwhile. 50 minutes of show time would have been worth it....25 minutes? No way. Very disappointed in the duration of the show.
Set was cute. Actors were good and enjoyable. We didn't care for the story.. It was to short, not worth the travel time, parking, cost per ticket for this play. I would not see this again. My niece was 6 and didn't seem to really care for the story either. The actors were the highlight of this bc they had great personalities. Just not long enough or interesting enough. We went to the 230 show and kind of killed our day as we traveled for Delaware to downtown for a 30min play then back home.
I thought it was good, the kids loved it but, we felt it could have been a little longer.
True to the book. Cat was wonderful. Keep up these wonderful programs for my grandchildren!
I took my 5yr old and her little friend to this play. We have been to several children's plays and enjoy them. The Can in the Hat was a cute production and the performance was good. The kids really enjoyed it, but they (and me) were expecting it to be longer. The entire play was only about 22 minutes, yet cost the same as full-length kid productions (typically 50 - 70 minutes long). While I am all for short performances, the cost per ticket should have been proportional. And the duration of the performance was not clearly marked or advertized. This is a good play for kids going to their first play and for very small children (i.e., 2-4 yrs).
Too short! not a good value. Cat was wonderful. show was high quality.
Great event for a 3-, 5- and 6-year-old. The actors do not know how to do Irish Step dancing, so they should substitute another dance instead. One would only notice this if they've ever seen Irish Step dancing performed. Overall, still a great performance . . . especially by the Cat in the Hat [Danny ?].
Ill have to admit that I expected the show to follow the book or dvd more closely. But, i really did enjoy the creative lisc taken with content and I loved how the Fish was performed. My son was captivated with the show from beginning to end. He is 2 and can watch The Cat several times a day if permitted. It was a fun show with just the right amount of time for the young kids to stay in their seats. We both liked how intimate the setting was and how approachable the cast was as well. perhaps some attention could be paid to some blocking where we on the wings were seeing more of a members back than some of the action. that is the only criticism that i have. Thank you for the high energy and fun performance.
My 5 year old loved it and my husband and I did as well. It's just the right amount of time, and very fun and engaging. The Cat and the Fish were especially good.
I thought this was a great play. It was short & perfect for the age group. My daughter has special needs & a very short attention span. She was laughing, & loved it. The actor who played Cat, was very kind to her during the show. He gave her a tickle & she was thrilled. The rest of the actors & actresses were also so nice to her. I just loved this play!
I emphasize on the fish because his "solo" was my favorite part....but the kids loved the entire play, including my wife. I loved that the characters had an "autograph" station set out in the lobby after the show. The kids were able to get autographs from The Cat, Sally, The Fish, and Thing 1! I would love to take them to more Emerald City Shows.
The show was awesome, the cast was great. My son LOVED it and I loved it too!
