About

-    BNA Records newcomer Casey James is currently in the studio working on his debut album, set for release later this year.

-    Casey performed on the March leg of Sugarland's 2011 The Incredible Machine Tour opening for the duo in 8 cities across the country.  He will be re-joining them in July for some more dates.

-    Third runner up on Season 9 of American Idol.  Casey had never seen the show before he auditioned. With the encouragement of his mother, Casey drove from Texas to Colorado to try out, and the rest is history.

-    A native of Cool, Texas, Casey picked up guitar at 14 years old and spent most of his youth playing bars anywhere he could find a gig.

-    At age 21, Casey was in a devastating motorcycle accident.  Paramedics on the scene did not expect Casey to survive.  After months in the hospital, the doctors suspected that Casey might not be able to use his right arm ever again.  He says he started practicing guitar with his left hand just incase. Remarkably, after a year in the hospital, Casey had made a full recovery and continued to live out his dream performing his music.

-    Sound is a mix of 70's rock, outlaw country and blues. His music is inspired by everyone from Merle Haggard to Vince Gill to ZZ Top to Bonnie Raitt.

    Casey rocked!

by klhu on 7/12/11Billy Bob's - Fort Worth

Casey was amazing as usual...Billy Bobs however, was not. After Casey finished playing my friends and I went to get in line for his autograph. After we had waited in line for an hour, with 2 people in front of us, Billy Bob's goons whisked Casey away with no explanation to him or his fans. This could have been handled differently. The line of people left was not unmanageable and it was only 1:30 a.m. They should have let his fans know that at a certain time Casey would be asked to leave or after a certain point in line that would be the last autograph he could give. It was very inconsiderate to Casey's fans who paid Billy Bobs money to support him. Our time is equally as valuable and it was disrespectful to say the least.

Country boy with a soul fulla blues

by mandeelee on 7/6/11@BillyBobsTexas - Ft Worth

"I'm a country boy" Casey tells an interviewer, tho its clear its his bluesey Texas guitar slayin' style that so many fans are here to see. And he keeps us waitin' for the most part, til the second half. His self-written "You Need Some Texas" satisfies however, and rises up as a signature song, along with the poignant and lyrically complex, "I Lied." To give his band a break, he'll give us two acoustic numbers so new the ink ain't dry. Note to file, I'll take "Why I'm Feelin' Blue" on my country anthem toppers any day of the week! That and the lilting "Undone" tell us he has been workin mighty hard over his time since he was signed in Nashville--PS tho!, that hard work is really nothin but love (of the craft) and not really work for him! lol. And as if we needed another treat he throws in one the wrote oh so long ago, before fame was a twinkle in his eye "Shine your Shoes" with appropriately symplistic lyrics serving as a prophetic statement(?) and obvious counterpoint to the others we'll see on his CD. Don't touch it kiddo! When the band returns we think they're punkin him- but no, he's ready to launch into the Withers anthem "Use Me", with guitar work someone said "ought to be illegal in some states". My long time fav, "Done Made Up My Mind" followed. Its the most musically true to his own heart, I think, and the introspective "When My Guitar Gets Tired (of playin the blues) had better make the CD or heads will roll I'm tellin ya . Now he calls the woman who is responsible for him being here, his "Momma" @BybeeDJames onstage for "Angel from Montgomery" and a duet on "Small Town Saturday Night." "Something happens that squeezes my heart" said a friend of Casey's voice goin on harmony with Debra. Unforgettable. One move cover and the self-written (w/ Kristain Bush/Sugarland) "Hold On" closes us out to a thankful & clappin'/ hootin & wavin' public reception of hometown and cross- country /(international) fans. (A couple of folks came in from England.) Now to the long meet & greet line which sadly surpassed the time allotment with folks wants to see him beaming and not tired after 21 songs-- all Full-On, too; his golden skin and loose gold locks outshining the neon Coors signs. He took some disabled fans ahead in line & readily remembered a woman for whose ill hushand he had been asked to pray I'm not worried, there is so much more ahead and I know @CaseyEJames is right on it, the country boy with the soul (and heart) full o' th' blues.

    Casey James rocked the house!!

by SusieQWestlake on 7/6/11Billy Bob's - Fort Worth

I was blown away with Casey James' performance! Usually I know most of the songs of the concerts I attend. I didn't know a single song that he performed (except one that he sang with his mom in the encore - how cute is that!?) and it didn't even matter. Every song was amazing. I can't wait to purchase his album when it FINALLY comes out. I would go see him again & again in concert too!

Casey James is a superb guitarist

by FawnzeB on 7/5/11Billy Bob's - Fort Worth

Casey is awesome. He's a wonderful guitarist and OH SO good to look at. He just needs to put a litte more excitement into his performances. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Didn't care much for my seating as the pole was in my way, but not much can be done about that. :)

The music was great, Casey was great, but the sound was horrible. You could not even hear the words to the songs, so it made it much less enjoyable at this venue.

Casey James is a fantastic performer and a guitar marvel! He sang 12 original songs, introduced two new songs and performed a handful of cover songs. The audience was enthralled with the show and the Meet & Greet line stretched for a thousand feet inside the building. This musician has a very bright future!

No Words... Just Love... Talk about ROCKIN' OUT!!!

    by Kathyt11 on 7/3/11Billy Bob's - Fort Worth Texas July 1, 2011 - Fort Worth

This was an amazing performance - soul, country, rock, blues - with ENERGY just blowin' off that Billy Bob's Stage. Started out with "Need Some Texas" - with so much blues / country and loved that "HONKIN' like a long necked goose" line. Then Casey James announced that this ONE would soon be on the radio - a NEW song - ""She's MONEY" and the crowd ROARED..... And then we feel in love with "If I said I loved YA - I LIED" - just off the charts. LOVED every minute. Then one of my favorites - which I'd heard him sing before in Little Rock - "Let's Don't Call it a Night". Casey said he RECORDED this one last FRIDAY. We are all so excited about the ALBUM. Then one we'd heard at Keys before - but he REALLY killed this BLUES pick and beat that white guitar "to death". "Drowning on Dry Land" - Lordy -it was getting hot in there... LOVE it. HEAD BANGIN' - Guitar pickin - rocked the house. Then "Long Tall Texas" which Casey delivered with GUSTO. He is getting better and better each time on this one. Then a new acoustic, SAD SONG (LOVE Song) that he SAVED for this hometown performance - this was the 1st time he did it in public - "Why I'm Feelin' Blue" - this was so sweet, sad, soulful. Really beautiful song. Then another acoustic - heart breaker - "Come Undone" - we were all UNDONE by this point - the audience was mesmerized. And one I'd heard on YouTube - but it was so sweet in person - "Wash Your Windows... Shine Your Shoes" And the Bluesy "USE ME" where he introduced the band and he was really beatin' up that white guitar. Casey was at the top of his game and songs / music were flying off that stage. I've never seen anything like it... Then came "Need Your Love So BAD" and Casey was so good and the singing and guitar playing were like being in a dream. And then "Til My Guitar Gets Tired of Playing the BLUES" - 1st song he wrote in Nashville - LOVE this song. "Too Sweet" which he had played at keys before - and it was SO sweet - not "too sweet for me". Then he said he loved food, cars and his dogs and that he loved this next song and it was "SO SWEET" and he said HE LOVED us too. Then the southern ROCK song - "DRIVE" with the BLUE guitar and the electric slide work was off the map. CASEY was moving all over the stage and the energy was amazing... the crowd was in a frenzy. And then he brought Debra (Bybee) James - his Mom - onto the stage and the crowd went wild again. I think the song was "Play Me an Angel" - not sure of title - but they were amazing. Such good harmony between them and the synergy . Debra is a fantastic musician in her own right. We were all so blessed to see this special performance. And then "off the cuff" - Casey says - can she sing harmony to "Small Town Saturday Night" - and they started - but he couldn't remember all the words... and then he got them and it was amazing. And they gave a tribute to his late Grandpa - her Dad - "PawPaw" who recently "passed away". Saying "Put a dollar worth of GAS in his PawPaw's truck"... We were all in Heaven and I know PawPaw was lookin' down with pride as his daughter and grandson were so amazing in this performance of a life time. And then Casey closed with "Green Light Girl" - it was a great song too.... and full of rock and beatin' those guitar strings all over the stage. Then "HOLD ON" which he co-wrote with Kristian Bush from SugarLand... and he killed it on the white guitar. And AS he was leaving and we were all screaming - Casey James said "This was for my PawPaw" It was the the night of a lifetime. He stayed after to sign autographs and the line was out of Billy Bob's it was so long... They finally made him stop at 2:30 since the bar was closing. Never have I seen so much passion and so much talent and delivery in one night. THANK YOU so much Casey James and also Debra (for the most amazing sets).

    No justice for Casey James!

by LadyDD on 7/3/11Billy Bob's - Fort Worth

Casey is really cute but the venue didn't do him justice. Billy Bob's sound is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! Couldn't hear the words and couldn't see his face. We left after 45 minutes....Too bad for Casey.

    Caey James = Amazing!

by KatyEileen on 7/3/11Billy Bob's - Fort Worth

The show itself was incredible. He is so charismatic onstage and really gets into his performance. The seats were okay (not the best and definitely not the worst). I cannot wait until he comes back to town....such a nice guy!!

    you heard it here first!

by mandeelee on 6/3/11Whisky Tango - Grain Valley

From the honky tonk toe tapper, "Bulletproof" (Delbert McClinton co write) to the melancholy "Show me a Bridge" its clear from note to note that Casey James' years paying his dues at small local venues (initially with his mother, singer-songwriter, Bybee D. James) have paid off well. And if anything beats his performance chops it has to be his credibility as legitimate songwriter with an ability to make all that is gutwrenching come off as completely organic. Other self-penned work include the hard-drivin "Drive" and (possibly the most musically true-to-self offering) "Done Made Up My Mind" with its awesome guitar work; and the retrospective "I Lied." Well done and well-chosen covers ('Lil Liza Jane, Poke Salad Annie) round out the set. For someone whose out-of-spotlight personality oozes humility, Casey's confidence and stage presence, (coupled with his very-evident love of the craft) makes for a winning combination I'd pay good money to see anytime!

    Casey James was awesome!!!

by wildwillowdes on 6/2/11US Cellular Coliseum - Bloomington

This was my first time to see Casey James live. I had only seen him on American Idol so I was in for a treat! Casey is now playing his own music, along with new songs. I can't wait for the release of his new album, which should be later this summer or early fall. With a single that should be released anytime now. He did an awesome show!!!

Casey James accoustic set in Indy was awesome!!!!!

by Linnell on 5/30/11WFMS Country Music Fest - Indianapolis

Oh my, Casey E. James was unbelievable in Indy at the Country Music Expo! I went just to see & hear him and he sure didn't disappoint. He is just as awesome on accoustic guitar as he is on electric. He also has such a beautiful, pure voice full of passion! He performed new songs he has written for a CD that I keep singing in my head. I can't wait for his CD to come out. I would also recommend anyone to see him live whenever and whereever you can!! There is more than one Casey James & the bio on this site is for a different Casey James but the concert dates, etc. are correct for Casey E. James playing at Billy Bob's in Texas and has opened for Sugarland and will again plus many other venues in June/July 2011!
