About

The Casey Donahew Band in Concert

A linchpin of country music's grassroots Red Dirt movement, The Casey Donahew Band first began building their loyal following by playing night after night in the kind of Texas honky-tonks where you have to forge a strong connection with your audience. They moved on to a bigger, broader audience, but they never abandoned those performance principles. Even now that their albums regularly enter the country Top 10, they still bring those principles to every stage.

A Casey Donahew Band concert is more like a party full of friends than anything else. And whether Donahew and his crew are dealing out percolating grooves like the one that powers "Moving On" or tearing down the house with a hard-charging roadhouse rocker like "One Star Flag" with fierce fiddle and guitar licks flying, you can count on an atmosphere where everybody gets into the spirit of things.

The Casey Donahew Band Background

Growing up in Burleson, a little town outside of Fort Worth, Casey Donahew was steeped in Texan tradition from an early age — he worked in the rodeo before he started pursuing music. Once the Casey Donahew Band was formed in 2002, keeping it real was high on the agenda.

They hit the Texas bar scene hard and earned a diehard audience that followed them through every step of their evolution as the band continued to gain popularity. They put out their first album, 'Lost Days,' in 2006, but it was 2009's 'Moving On' that really broke through to a national audience, landing them on the country album charts for the first time.

From there, the band's energetic country-rocking sound found more and more success. 2011's 'Double-Wide Dream' hit the country Top 10, and five years later, the appropriately titled 'All Night Party' went all the way to No. 3. Pretty impressive for a band that has remained steadfastly independent for the entirety of its existence, shunning the spotlight of the music business money-go-round in favor of keeping it simple and bringing their music directly to the audience that's been embracing them for years.

Love of our country and music wrapped in one show

by Joy W. on 11/21/23Music Farm - Charleston

I have been following Casey since 2009 when I moved to Texas and haven't looked back! He is such an amazing storyteller through his songs. His spectrum of writing is huge. He sings about love, life, his love of our country and then he has those songs that make you laugh, have the absolute best lines and rhythm! He has always taken a stand of his love of the USA and our freedoms and during this rough time, I think more people with a podium should be doing the same. He doesn't back down from it and always talks about it during his shows. He really gets involved with the crowd and has this sense of humor that makes you laugh and comes out between songs. At the end of every show he stays behind to sign memorabilia, take pictures, shake hands and to thank you for coming. We took our 10 year olds and 8 year old for the first time as he is one of their favorites and he made sure to notice and interact with them even giving them picks, his set list which he signed and taking pictures with them. We moved from Texas a year ago and were so sad as he never had really performed out in the Carolinas. The excitement we had when we saw he was coming was beyond belief! I hope he continues to bless this part of the country with his love performances. We will be there every time! We brought friends who had never heard of him and they are now hooked as well. We plan to introduce as many people as we can to him because his music and show is an experience we all need!

    Huge fan, great show!

by Jen C on 12/15/218 Seconds Saloon - Indianapolis

The venue is good sized and it was busy but didn’t feel cramped. Had no trouble getting beers or lines to the restrooms. As for the show, Casey was amamzing! I have been a fan for 10 years but have never got to see him since I love so Far north(Michigan) but the show was amazing and worth the drive. He sounds just as good live as he does in his recorded music!!!!

    Too crammed

by Leanne on 11/22/21Templelive Fort Smith - Fort Smith

Casey Donahew was awesome! Temple Live, however, is not an appropriate venue for a concert. Especially when you are serving alcohol. People cannot get in & out of the tiny rows to go to the restroom. Which makes it super annoying for others who are constantly having to get up to let people in and out.
