Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 1/31/10Ralph Freud Playhouse - Los Angeles Rating: 4 out of 5 Must see Carousel but sound has problems
by Broadwaymusicman on 1/31/10Ralph Freud Playhouse - Los AngelesNice to see updated version of Carousel. However, mikes were crackling at times but bigger problem was with the SOUND!! Gorgeous 17 piece orchestra was wasted with very very poor sound amplification. Need to turn up volume quite a bit. No richness to sound. Sounds like an AM radio compared to lush rich FM, SAT radio. Add more amplification, surround the audience with more speakers. Could not even hear the beautiful low bass.. Add subwoofers... My home system eats up Freud's system, acoustics, alive. Need to get to work on this right away. No excuses!!!

Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 1/30/10Ralph Freud Playhouse - Los Angeles I enjoyed the production. The only difficulty for me was being able to hear some of the dialogue spoken by the actress that played Julie. I don't know if it was a problem with the mic or what. Unfortunately, I missed the dialogue.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Carousel dated but delicious!
by cabaret66 on 1/28/10Ralph Freud Playhouse - Los AngelesExcellent direction, beautiful voices, sterling performances.....needs a rewrite (I know it's Rogers and Hammerstein) but really hitting your wife and child and having them say it didn't hurt....oh please.....that's never acceptable!

by KKNPFP on 7/12/09Schoenberg Hall - UCLA - Los AngelesThis was a wonderful production in spite of the fact that it was without sets; The cast was from UCLA's School of Theatre, Film & Television & the orchestra was UCLA's Philharmonic, The voices & music were just marvelous & can't wait to see another production they may do of some other musical!
