Carolina Hurricanes History
The Carolina Hurricanes were established in Raleigh in 1997 after relocating from Hartford, Connecticut, where the National Hockey League franchise was originally founded in 1979. Since their arrival in North Carolina, the Hurricanes have made the playoffs 11 times, captured six division championships, two Eastern Conference titles and the 2006 Stanley Cup Championship.
The team also hosted the 2004 NHL Draft and the 2011 NHL All-Star Game at Lenovo Center, where they play their home games. When the Hurricanes made the playoffs in 2001, against the defending Stanley Cup Champions New Jersey Devils, they lost the series but came back from a 3-0 deficit to force a sixth game — marking what many believed to be the start of real hockey in the Research Triangle.
The 2005-2006 season marked the best in the Hurricanes' history, as the team finished with 112 points, beating the previous franchise-best record of 94 points. They ended up beating the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final, marking the first time in NHL history that two former World Hockey Association teams faced off in the Final.

If you buy “seats 4, 5, 6, and 7 in row SRO” those are not seats but you can stand along a rail and see half if the ice. When the action is on the other half of the ice you have to watch the screen, even if no one is in the seats in front of you. Maybe someone who goes to lots of sports events knows this, but I was buying tickets as a gift for someone who likes hockey. I can’t believe I spent $600 and couldn’t even see the ice!!!!
We would definitely go see the NC Hurricanes play again
It was my sister and I’s first time going to a Flyers game. (My parents second). It was the Flyers v. Hurricanes and the atmosphere was amazing. Even though we were in Raleigh (boo) we had the BEST time. I can’t wait to go to a Flyers game in Philly 🥳
I was blown away by the stadium and even more the Hurricanes vs the flyers what the most memorable time for me and my dad.
I bought these tickets for my husband for Christmas, at first not looking forward to it (only Bc I am not a sports gal) but I ended up loving it and honestly no bad seats and awesome environment. Worth the four hour drive.
Parking for $30.00 is an excessive fee given price of tickets.
The Carolina Hurricanes game in Raleigh was a great event, but the cheapest tickets and concessions were still expensive. Parking was real bad. Arrived early but was stuck waiting in long lines outside the parking lot. Pre-paid a lot for parking that I couldn't use because of the long lines and limited parking.
This was my first hockey game. The game was awesome! The facility was also very nice. Will definitely do it again.
If you're in Raleigh, you must go to a Canes game! The atmosphere alone is super fun, but the team makes the experience so much better
Carolina Hurricanes charged $30 for parking. There was many empty seats in the arena and it will take a while until I return. It’s just not worth it. $30 parking, $18 beers…..
It was really fun! Kids and adults had a lot of fun! Will definitely go back ☺️
These were maybe the best seats I’ve ever sat in for a hockey game. Better than the 200’s imo because they’re a little closer to the ice and you still get your own section with shorter bathroom and food lines. Right at Center ice, could not have been more pleased. And I have to say I was surprised by how kind the hurricanes fans were to a visiting Sabres fan. Had a great time! Well worth the $$. Thank you all!!!
The game was a typical NHL game. The venue needs work. First getting there off the highway was a traffic disaster that could have been avoided if there was 1 officer directing traffic around a dedicated right turn instead of cars stopping and waiting unnecessarily at a red light. The officer was there, he just wasn’t directing the hundreds of cars using that exit. Traffic was backed up for nearly an hour. The Venue, while clean, lacks an adequate number of washrooms for a facility of that size. The washrooms it does have also have sinks that are set 3” too far back on the counter, so you have to lean way over…a nuisance for an adult, tough for a kid to reach. There needs to be more permanent food concessions offering a broader menu. There are only a few choices and they repeat. The portable kiosks are boring. I did like the variety of pretzels on the pretzel carts. It’s disappointing that an NHL building doesn’t have fountain soda and a souvenir cup. The bottled product goes warm after 20 minutes and is undesirable. I’ve been to 8 NHL Arenas, 1 has since closed and although it was old and tired, it had a better food selection than PNC Arena.it’s time to kick it up a notch, time for a reno. I have no desire to go back until that happens.
I bought five tickets to the game, and 4 of us had difficulty entering the arena. It was completely ridiculous. They had me running around with my 7 month old in my arms giving me a horrible time getting into the game, we ended up being late (when I had attempted to enter 30 min prior to puck drop), and for nothing. My tickets were valid. I was/am furious.
We had a tough opponent with the Caps. They had a few lucky shots, but skill and determination proved the better team winning the first Shootout of the season. LET’S GO CANES!
We had a great time at the Canes game despite the loss to the Islanders. So much fun to be able to see them in person!
first time at PNC Arena, we had a great time.. was a little disappointed that there was no handicapped parking otherwise it was fun! Surprised how clean the stadium and parking lots where too!
Great game! Always a fun time! Can’t wait to go again.
I Was visiting from Canada and I got seats next to the Tampa Bay penalty box and thrilled when Nick Paul, recently of the Ottawa Sens, sat.in the box and I got a great photo. The Canes fans were great but lots of empty seats unfortunately. Parking was a breeze. In and out quickly. The parking app.is a great idea. I wish we had it in Canada. I'll.definitely be back.
