Carolina Hurricanes History
The Carolina Hurricanes were established in Raleigh in 1997 after relocating from Hartford, Connecticut, where the National Hockey League franchise was originally founded in 1979. Since their arrival in North Carolina, the Hurricanes have made the playoffs 11 times, captured six division championships, two Eastern Conference titles and the 2006 Stanley Cup Championship.
The team also hosted the 2004 NHL Draft and the 2011 NHL All-Star Game at Lenovo Center, where they play their home games. When the Hurricanes made the playoffs in 2001, against the defending Stanley Cup Champions New Jersey Devils, they lost the series but came back from a 3-0 deficit to force a sixth game — marking what many believed to be the start of real hockey in the Research Triangle.
The 2005-2006 season marked the best in the Hurricanes' history, as the team finished with 112 points, beating the previous franchise-best record of 94 points. They ended up beating the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final, marking the first time in NHL history that two former World Hockey Association teams faced off in the Final.

PNC is a great venue and the ticket ordering process was quick and easy.
First time to a Canes game in person. We had an amazing time. Good energy good game great overall experience.
April 4, 2024 game. Great game, and the experience at PNC is always good. They seem to have mastered getting the parking lots emptied after an event like no other arena I've been to. It helps that the location of the Arena is adjacent to SO many side streets. Food and bev are a bit pricey, but that's no big surprise. They did move the lines along quickly though, so you didn't have to wait long for your $50 quick-serve dinner for two. Rest rooms were clean, staff was friendly and helpful -- all around good experience.
Great facility. Easy walk from our hotel. Ticketing and admission all worked as they should. The wrong team won.
Easy entry and exit to the PNC. All personnel friendly and professional. Good food options. Hurricanes did not disappoint in bringing an exciting hockey match.
Like I stated already, we had a great time! Always do. This time was a little more special as my fiancés mother came along for her first ever hockey game as she has grown to love the Carolina Hurricanes! She got to have her picture taken with Stormy the mascot and the team won as well. Overall a great time was had. She wants to go again before this season ends; but with my schedule and the way it is it does not seem possible. Unless we go to a playoff and those are a little out of my reach price wise.
Seats were pretty high up but still had good view. Need Labatt Blue on tap!!
It was a great night to be a NY Ranger fan. Lots of Rangers Blue in the arena. As a NY/NJ transplant, I was very happy to see them beat one of their rivals. I wish the Rangers and Canes played more games at PNC. Can’t wait for the next opportunity to see them here in the triangle. Playoffs are coming!
This venue and fans are very nice and welcoming, great seat views. Very efficient process for entry, line moved well. My only negative was the traffic flow out of the venue for UBERs etc.
Prices used to be reasonable for the Carolina Hurricanes, but not anymore. $40 for parking, $100+ a seat, food prices are exremely high, $16 for a beer, and on and on.... Fortunate that I was able to enjoy the reasonably priced times with my family as it's now too expensive to justify.
My friend and I traveled all day to see the Canes play! She came from California and I came from Atlanta! We were so excited to see Pyotr Kochetkov play because he’s amazing! Sadly, we didn’t get to see him play. Andersen came back from being hurt and we won 4-1! It was so fun! Brent Burns bobble heads were absolutely a highlight! What a great token take home from such an epic player! We were so excited, and had an amazing night! 10/10 would definitely recommend seeing them again!
First Hurricanes games was a great experience (even though they lost 😞). PNC Arena is a great venue. It was clean, workers were friendly, which was refreshing. We sat in section 338, but still had a great view, and didn’t feel that far away from the ice. Watching in person was so much more exciting than watching on TV. It was an experience to remember, and it definitely will not be our last game.
We had a great time at the Canes game. We usually watch them on television at home in Charlotte, and this was our first in-person game. It was more exciting in person and the venue does a good job of keeping the excitement level high. We will probably go back to Raleigh for a weekend day game.
Had a great time! I thought everything was well organized and filled with excitement. My main complaint would be the $40 to park. That's as much as I spent on my ticket. That's entirely too expensive to park for a couple of hours.
Always fun at a Canes game. Staff are super friendly and helpful.
These seats were high up in the arena, but you can still see the hockey rink perfectly I think. You can see the everything going on. I love going to Hurricane hockey games. They do great having a good atmosphere and making it where whole families can go which I what my family did. I really enjoyed the experience just wish the hurricanes actually won. But I know they can’t win every game
Went as an away team fan. Everyone was friendly regardless of fan, team employee, or arena employee. Would recommend to anyone.
My 2nd game at PNC and for two of my kids, their first. Great memories were made from the nose bleeds. We will be back as soon as possible!
Easy to purchase tickets on the app. When I tried to pull the tickets up at the event, the website took some time to pull up my tickets. It took a couple of minutes to do so. Other than that, the app is a great place to purchase tickets for local events.
