Carolina Hurricanes History

The Carolina Hurricanes were established in Raleigh in 1997 after relocating from Hartford, Connecticut, where the National Hockey League franchise was originally founded in 1979. Since their arrival in North Carolina, the Hurricanes have made the playoffs 11 times, captured six division championships, two Eastern Conference titles and the 2006 Stanley Cup Championship.

The team also hosted the 2004 NHL Draft and the 2011 NHL All-Star Game at Lenovo Center, where they play their home games. When the Hurricanes made the playoffs in 2001, against the defending Stanley Cup Champions New Jersey Devils, they lost the series but came back from a 3-0 deficit to force a sixth game — marking what many believed to be the start of real hockey in the Research Triangle.

The 2005-2006 season marked the best in the Hurricanes' history, as the team finished with 112 points, beating the previous franchise-best record of 94 points. They ended up beating the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final, marking the first time in NHL history that two former World Hockey Association teams faced off in the Final.

This was my first time going to a Stanley Cup playoff game. This game was absolutely amazing. I sat in the 300 section and that was the best seat in the house. You get a view of what’s going on in the entire rink. I will suggest everyone go to a Carolina hockey game once in their life.

  • CANES WIN!

by JG on 5/5/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

PNC Arena was rocking, especially after the Canes 1st goal. It has been great to see the Canes go for the empty net regularly now. There was a time not too many years ago they did not do so. An empty net goal is one of the most exciting plays in my opinion, as it petty much seals the win. GO CANES!

Nothing beats the loudest house in the NHL in the playoffs.

  • Best crowd

by HUGE CANES FAN on 5/5/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

From the introduction of the teams to the last horn the crowd was absolutely amazing. They were loud, fun, and energetic. 10 out of 10 would recommend going to a game.

  • Love this place!

by Briggy on 5/1/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Best arena in the NHL. Always clean, full of polite workers, and home to the best team ever. I just wish Ticketmaster participated in special nights. For example, Star Wars night gave ticket buyers a free t-shirt; but since our tickets came through Ticketmaster, we weren’t able to get one.

  • Great seats! Great win!!

by Rob on 5/1/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

My son and I had a wonderful time at the Hurricanes game. The seats were center ice, really fun! Can’t wait to go back.

  • Good Premier parking was a breeze!

by Randy on 4/18/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Traffic moved slowly but ok to the Gold Premier lot between PNC and Carter Finley. Easy parking and quick walk to the entrance. After the game we never stopped moving and exited faster than ever! Worth $40 bucks? In rainy or cold weather, absolutely!

  • Simple and Successful

by Sierra on 4/17/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Purchasing the tickets was easy, getting checked in at the event center was easy, and the seats were wonderful! Couldn't be happier.

by Patti on 4/14/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Was heart broken that they lost the game on Friday, April 8, 2022 with only 14 seconds left, we thought we were going to see some OT!!!

  • What, exactly am I reviewing??

by Oot & Aboot on 4/13/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

The venue was easy to get in to and out of. Security went well. The usher for our section was very nice. There is not a great variety of food court options. The Hurricanes organization does a terrible job of answering FB or Twitter messages. We tried to find out how to get a birthday announced and sent several messages to no avail. The pre-game show is OK, but no LV Golden Knights show, for sure. The game was fine. Again...not sure if you are seeking a review of the game, the organization, the venue, or the process...so there's my take on it all.

  • Winning team

by Hockeyqueen on 4/13/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

It was an awesome game. Exciting to the end. Even saw a “hat trick” by the team’s Captain! Easy access to the arena, seats were perfect, easy flow in and out of the parking lot. It was an incredible experience all around.

  • Amazing experience

  • Canes lost but great staff!

by Chrissy on 4/11/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Upon entering the parking lot, I mistakenly showed the wrong QR code to the parking attendant. She was super patient with me especially after i realized it was for a concert and not the game. She told me to pull to the side and once i found it she let me through. We got there and hour beforehand so all the seats were basically empty so we hung out by the railing in the 308 section. The lady working the section was super sweet. Her name was Carolyn and she was from Boston. She was very kind and let my son sit in the empty seats to watch practice. Everytime we go to a game or concert the staff is always helpful and kind.

  • Long Road Home

    by R. H. on 4/3/22Rating: 4 out of 5

Wife and I have been to several games and enjoyed the experience tickets were reasonable for the NHL, PNC Arena is a great venue, parkings a little expensive but we both enjoyed coming to Raliegh and watching the Canes play. Only down side is we live in Mount Pleasant, SC and its a 4 hour drive on l-95 if theres no traffic accidents or Road Construction Stoppage.

  • I'm a huge CANIAC

  • Canes/Bolts game

by Jo on 3/28/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Tickets were purchased way in advance and stored in my wallet. Day of game my 3 tickets were at my finger tips.

  • Great Experience!

    by Danny K on 3/26/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 4 out of 5

The seating was tighter than other arenas I have been to, but the overall experience was great. Appears to be a family friendly crowd with everyone enjoying the game. The location is suburban so driving is a must. I was surprised with how quickly the incoming and outgoing parking was. We queued up in the parking lot line about 20 minutes before puck drop and were in our seats for the start of the game. We were also out of the parking lot in about 15-20 minutes after the game and we stayed until the final buzzer!

  • Great game!

by KLR on 3/23/22PNC Arena - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Exciting game from start of finish. I'm a New York Rangers fan who enjoys coming to the PNC arena when my team is in town. This trip was even better since New York won the game.
