Carl Palmer Band was absolutely Kick Ass :>)

by Budwig on 10/20/11B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Carl Palmer Band was absolutely Kick Ass :>) They played for 1hr 50 min non-stop and looked and sounded fantastic. Absolutely World Class- common for NYC's best Clubs and Venues, but simply because of Carl Palmer and his lifelong commitment to Excellence and Precision. The Bassist and Guitarist - Simon and Paul- were also excellent. Special thanks to Bruce Pilato and the entire Tour staff for coordinating an unbelievable "Meet and Greet" after the show, in which Carl, Simon and Paul signed autographs and took photos with about 150 fans who formed a line half way around the Club. Thanks Ticketmaster for selling these great tickets to a great show in a great City :>) Tones

    Quite unique !

by EWULTD on 10/20/11B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Great show all around. Carl Palmer is quite a showman on drums. The bass player used a violin bow during a solo, aka Jimmy Page version mind you. Thats always fun to watch. It would've been very cool if they would've done the classic ELP "lucky man". The announced meet & greet after show was good, got autograph from Carl Palmer, but he wouldn't shake my hand, not sure why. I would've preferred a picture together instead of autograph though. Jeff

    Amazing Show!

by NONE123 on 10/28/10Slippery Noodle Inn - Indianapolis

I was a little concerned when I bought these tickets. Carl has always been among the very best drummers, but with two relatively unknown band members and trying to convert keyboards to guitar, well I was curious to see how it would all translate. The small intimate setting was perfect and from the first number I knew I was in for a special event! The band was incredible. Carl select two gifted guitar players and rearranged the music to work with w/o a keyboard player. It gave the music a different life and it was not "ELP Lite." Carl was smart enough to realize you cannot replace Keith Emmerson and took the music to a completely different place while staying true to the music itself. It was a magical evening topped off by the band coming out to sign autographs. Carl Palmer is for my money the best drummer in the world and the Carl Palmer Band demonstrated its class and fan friendly nature by taking the extra step after the show. If you have the chance to see this show, get your friends, get your tickets, and get to this concert event!

Carl Palmer is a Drum God. The man is 60???? He plays better than guys in their 20's. If you get a chance to see this group, by all means go. His guitarist is fantastic, the bass player solid, and Carl Palmer is just..... one of a kind. 5 STARS!

    Carl Palmer, Still Amazing!

by poconoguy on 10/22/10Keswick Theatre - Glenside

Well, I have now seen all 3 members of ELP (Lake and Emerson during a spring tour) during 2010, and this concert did not disappoint. Carl plays like he always does, with flair and power. He was accompanied by a lead guitar and bass guitar, who made the ELP classics come alive. The solo during "fanfare" was not to be missed! Too bad the venue was 1/3 filled, people missed out on a rare evening with, dare I say, the best rock drummer out there. Sound quality could have been better, too much feedback. Note, there was supposed to be an opening act, The Blue Magoos, but when we got to the front door, a notice indicated they would not perform. We timed our arrival to miss the opening act, but found the concert already under way. Make sure you check with the theatre the day of the show for any possible lineup changes in acts.

Prog Rock virtuosos still alive and well

by Timmudshark on 10/22/10Keswick Theatre - Glenside

A small but appreciative crowd witnessed the Carl Palmer Band rocking the Keswick Theatre on Wednesday night. From the opening number "The Barbarian" to the encore tune "Nutrocker" the band executed amazing renditions of mostly ELP material.Paul Bielatowicz played Emerson's keyboard parts on guitar using the 2 hand tapping technique revealing influences of Eddie Van Halen,Allan Holdsworth,Stanley Jordan and Steve Vai thus earning a spot on the who's who of guitar gods as was Simon Fitzpatrick who played "Bohemian Rhapsody" as a bass solo and coved all the parts using the 2 hand technique.Carl's drum solo in "Fanfare" was his bestdrum solo I've ever heard (having seen him 50+ times).Whether playing as a trio on "Pictures at an Exhibition","Tarkus","Hoedown" and "Trilogy" or during the solos and various combinations of duets the 3 musicians exemplified virtuosity.

Carl Palmer at B.B. King's Club, NYC

by Artemis514 on 10/21/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Carl Palmer was and still is a master of percussion...he proved once again that he stands alone with his genius. He was on top of his performance as he was in the 70s at MSG.He performed with 2 other guitarists who were outstanding , complementing the drums of Palmer. It was over 2 hours of magnificent renditions of ELP classics- hard 2 believe, the keyboards of Emerson and the vocals of Lake were not missed with this presentation! Carl Palmer is a magnificent musician and an outstanding person...his warmth at the microphone drew the audience 2 him even moreso. This is a grouping that will indeed be a priority 4 me in the future~

CARL PALMER OF COURSE THE GREATEST DRUMMER

by PlayfulguyNYC on 10/21/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

ITS CARL PALMER, NEED ANYONE SAY ANYTHING MORE. ITS ALSO GREAT TO SEE SOMEONE LIKE CARL TO TAKE HIS TIME AFTER THE EVENT TO SIT DOWN AND MEET HIS FANS FOR AUTOGRAPHS AND TO SAY HELLO. BESIDES BEING ONE OF THE GREATEST NAMES IN ROCK N ROLL HISTORY, HE APPRECIATES HIS FANS AND BECOMES "DOWN TO EARTH" REGULAR GUY. HAVE TO GIVE HIM RESPECT IN EVERY DIRECTION. GOD BLESS HIM.

    Incredible show!

    by celts17 on 10/18/10Showcase Live - Foxboro

Absolutely incredible. I knew it would be, I saw Carl and his band a few years ago. And I'll see them again, next time they tour and hit New England. Carl Palmer is #1 on my favorite drummer list, with Neil Pert a close 2nd. I'm a huge YES fan and I like both Bill Bruford and Alan White; but Carl Palmer doesn't take a back seat to anyone. I'd be lying if I said I knew most of the songs. I recognized Tarkus and Fanfare for the Common Man. But every song was an instrumental (don't recall hearing any of the radio friendly ELP tracks with vocals being played), and I really didn't recognize most of them. But the artistry was to be marveled at. Not just Carl, but his guitar player and the bass player as well. In addition to the favorite moment (see below), I also really enjoyed the bass player's version of Bohemian Rhapsody, and at one point, a song morphed into parts of Over the Rainbow (saw Jeff Beck play that song earlier this summer!). In fact, I enjoyed the show so much ... I'm posting this review TWICE! Why not? Bought a total of eight tickets on two separate transactions (ending up treating my nephew and his girl to the show)! So, I've got two links to respond to! Rock and roll!

Carl Palmer Delivers Again and Again

by Anonymous on 10/18/10Showcase Live - Foxboro

This might be a bit biased since this maked my 25 th time of seeing Mr. Carl Palmer. Forty years ago this individual inspired me to take up the drums, For which I am forever greatfull, And to this day he has never failed to amaze, and impress, and astonish, With his incredible playing style, and technigue, Not only is he the ultimate show man, but puts his all, in each, and every performance, When you leave the show you know you got your moneys worth, and than some. And the best part, He is just as wonderful as a human being, as he is a driummer, or as he would like to be known as, a percussionist. I have been fortunate enough over the years to have met him on several occasions , And he is just as thrilled to meet his fans, as his fans are thrilled to meet him , On a personal note, A few years back I gave him a book on vintage snare drums, and at this last show he remembered, and thanked me once again for the book. In this so called Rock World, Person's of this caliber are few, and far, inbetween. Cheers Joe M.

    Carl Palmer Band, EPIC

by CBlair on 10/18/10Showcase Live - Foxboro

I was never able to see Emerson, Lake and Palmer in concert years ago, but I really wanted to experience even a third of what it might be like. Carl is indeed a brilliant drummer, and both his guitarists were excellent. . I won’t deny that I missed hearing Greg’s voice and guitar and Keith’s keyboards, but this show stood firmly on its own. Carl's incredible energy and mastery of the drums is something worth seeing and hearing, for I have yet to see any drummer today match him. Thumbs up for an excellent performance, Carl!

The Carl Palmer Band once again puts on a great show . It takes two to three days to digest the show and realize what you just saw.
