CAR SEAT HEADREST IN CONCERT:

Car Seat Headrest play gleefully lo-fi power pop full of catchy hooks, and they always pump up the energy of their crowd-pleasing singalongs in concert. Frontman Will Toledo is the mastermind behind the band's brilliant sound, building a wall of raw guitar distortion as he sings his heart out on favorites like “Times to Die”, “Something Soon”, and “Maude Gone”. Wearing wire-rim glasses and loose fitting t-shirts, Toledo performs with a laid-back vibe that gets ticket buyers banging their heads and chanting in time to each catchy hook. With emotionally resonant lyrics to boot, Car Seat Headrest is primed to become everyone’s favorite new band with their irresistible sound and energetic live shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Recording project-turned-band Car Seat Headrest blasted out of virtual obscurity in 2014. Up until then musical mastermind Will Toledo had been singing his vocal takes straight into a laptop microphone while parked in his family's car -— which is how the project got its name. Between 2010-14 the Leesburg, VA-native released 11 albums through Bandcamp, amassing an army of fans strictly through word-of-mouth and online buzz. That all changed in 2014 when his impressive catalog caught the attention of Matador Records, who immediately signed him to a contract. Toledo decided to re-record several standouts for his 2015 label debut Teens of Style, which he supported on tour along with a newly formed backing band that helped bring his songs to life in concert. The album delivered on the promise of the singer-songwriter’s early releases, landing on several best-of lists and introducing his masterful tunes to a much wider audience. Car Seat Headrest has since grown into an energetic touring unit, bringing crowds at venues like the Observatory North Park to capacity, and leaving fans anxious to see what Toledo cooks up next.

by Barney on 4/8/22The Anthem - Washington

An amazing show in spite of Will Toledo having a cold. Car seat headrest played hits from different genres that blended well and highlighted the band’s strong stage presence and skill.

Toledo’s mask is insane! What a spectacle. Super tight dance rock. Toledo’s lyrics never fail to grip my heartstrings. Favorite song: “1937 State Park”

    Better On Headphones

by JoshBCamp on 9/30/18Delmar Hall - Saint Louis

Could have been an off night, but there wasn’t much energy coming from the band. Everything sounded alright, but they just kinda stood there and went through the set list. Except the drummer from Naked Giants who pulled some kids on stage for Destroyed By Hippie Powers, which was pretty cool. Naked Giants was a pretty good opener too, and those three guys play with CSH as well. I would have liked a few more songs from the band. I think they only played for like an hour and only three songs from Twin Fantasy. There wasn’t an encore, which I wouldn’t have minded if their set was longer to begin with. Overall I’m just not sure that I liked hearing CSH in a medium size venue setting. It wasn’t an awful show but I prefer the albums. What I [think] the set list was: The Ending of Dramamine Bodys Fill in the Blank Drugs With Friends Cute Thing Sober To Death (w/ a cover song I didn’t know in the middle) America (Never Been) Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales Destroyed By Hippie Powers Something Soon Think that’s everything, order might be off though. America was probably the best song performance wise. They tend to jam on certain songs live, like with Sober where they played a cover in the middle before the final verse.

Never buy Shaky Knees late night tickets again

by JimDATL on 5/17/17The Masquerade - Atlanta

This comment has nothing to do with Car Seat Headrest. I didn't see the show. In previous years of Shaky Knees, if you bought a late night ticket to a show the artist would play shortly after the time on the ticket. So if the time on the ticket was 11 pm, they would play at 11:30ish. I arrived for the show at 10:40, stood in line, went into the show, then saw that there was an OPENING ACT that started at about midnight and Car Seat Headrest wasn't taking the stage until 1:20 am. Ridiculous. My friend and I left.

Car Seat Head Rest was on Fire!!

    by Wh2ofan1 on 11/29/16Neptune Theatre - Seattle

The band held the audience through the entire performance. It was an energetic, exciting atmosphere to the entire concert. Each of the band members has a charisma that projects on-stage and makes you truly feel their enthusiasm and joy to be performing their music for you. They are moving up in their field and should continue to do so because of the connection they can project to their fans. LOVED the show and will try to see more of Car Seat Head Rest.
