Canadian Brass is the best concert anywhere!

by TBMSR on 1/22/12Embassy Theatre - Fort Wayne

Incredible combination of musicianship and showmanship! We traveled over 70 miles in a snow storm to see and hear the best brass ensemble in the world! They are truly the best concert I have ever attended.

by WalterG on 3/17/10Ferguson Center for the Arts Concert Hall - Newport News

when we first sat down & John McDermott started singing with his group, I thought, where is the brass? When he left the stage, I wondered, why brass, this guy's great. Then the Brass came on , all I can say is WOW!

    Fantastic!

by Klingerovi on 12/21/09Berklee Performance Center - Boston

These guys are a hoot! The music is excellent and varied, ranging from classical to New Orleans Jazz, to operetta, and they are FUNNY. We realized half-way thru the show that we had seen them more than a decade ago and loved it then, too!

    Wonderful experience!

by ChrisWilson on 12/21/09Berklee Performance Center - Boston

Good music, excellent performers, a couple of fun surprises (Hornsmoke!). Only negative -- the venue: seats are tight and specifically this performance -- the lighting wasn't great.

Loved the program...the music was terrific and all the players are so animated, TALENTED and seem to love what they are doing. It was a wonderful holiday treat. Also love TOWN HALL.

    The Canadian Brass are awesome!

by lmlm on 12/15/09Town Hall - New York

The Canadian Brass impressed as always. The music was wonderful and they commentary very entertaining. I would definitely attend another of their concerts. For a holiday concert, there was not as much "holiday" music as I expected which was a little disappointing, but as a concert in general it was very good. The Town Hall venue is a very nice theater, clean, well decorated - it definitely added to the experience. I would attend more events here.

I thought the entire performance was amazing. I had never heard the Canadian Brass and was impressed with their musicianship and humor. The one thing I didn't really care for--and actually thought changed the dynamic of the show--was the singer, who's vocal style seemed more suited to a Broadway musical. GIven the fact that the Canadian Brass were able to move fluidly between genres, the limitations of the singer seemed even more striking. But that aside, I loved the group's ability to share the stage and find joy in each other's talents. The generosity of the more senior players to the younger players was quite touching. BRAVO!!

    Great for Everyone

by ExMusician on 12/14/09Town Hall - New York

I've been a fan for many years. However, I had never seen them live. We really enjoyed it. We took our little children (who love shows, concerts, etc.) and they enjoyed it too. It's more than just chamber music, it's very entertaining for all.

    The Best

by Redbird44 on 12/14/09Town Hall - New York

The concert was fantastic. It was all that I expected and more. I could not believe that the theatre was only half full. We had front row, right seats and thought about moving, but did not. We could hear all the ballance of the music and even see the facial expressions of the musicians. During intermission, the two young trumpeters came out and visisted with members of the audience. The sound of the Canadian Brass is like no other. The ballance, precision and overall sound was almost without flaw. The program was much longer that I thought it would be (full two hours). I could have listened to another two hours.
