About

Cage the Elephant is a powerhouse rock and roll band from Bowling Green, Kentucky, that combines blues, classic rock, and funk into an eclectic and raucously fun sound. They formed in 2006 and signed to Relentless Records after playing the 2007 South by Southwest music festival. The band’s self-titled debut studio album was released in 2008 to commercial and critical success, spawning singles “Free Love,” “In One Ear,” and the hit “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked,” catapulting the band into the UK and US mainstream. Their sophomore album Thank You, Happy Birthday reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart with singles “Shake Me Down” and “Around My Head.” Cage the Elephant toured relentlessly for ticket holders in 2009 and 2010, opening for Foo Fighters, Manchester Orchestra, Silversun Pickups and Stone Temple Pilots. Their third studio album Melophobia came out in October 2013 on RCA Records with the single “Come a Little Closer,” opening up their sound with alt-rock and punk textures. They will finish out the year in concert with their high-octane and kinetic live show in support of Muse.

Cage the Elephant was exciting to hear and watch.

by Oread on 11/23/09Beaumont Club - Kansas City

While the two bands that opened the night need to improve, Cage the Elephant was great.. They played most if not all of their debut album, along with new material. Their muscianship was excellent and they are very visual in their performance. You can't take your eyes off Cage the Elephant because you don't know what they'll do next. It was obvious that they love what they are doing and like their audience and they involve them in their performance. A couple of times the lead singer jumped from the stage to be caught by the crowd. So, if you love great live music and lively performances, I would rercommend seeing Cage the Elephant. I know that I will be seeing them again whenever there is an opportunity to do so. Based on the comments that I overheard after the concert, I know that I am definitely not alone in my feelings about Cage the Elephant's performance.

    Cage The Elephant Was AMAZING

by CRYSTAL87 on 11/22/09Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

The show ROCKED!!!!! They have such great energy live. What was even cooler was them jumping into the crowd below and body surfing. The music is so fresh and alive. The guitar drums and vocals just sync together. I love listening to their music and it is even better watching them play live. I would so love to meet these boys from Kentucky!!! I can see these guys making it big and people playing their music for years to come. The Bands that opened for them : Morning Teleportation and The Shackletons also rocked, they really set the mood for Cage the Elephant. When these guys come back to Atlanta GA I will SO BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!

The show was great once Cage the Elephant got on stage. I wasn't a huge fan of the two opening acts or the fact that Cage the Elephant didn't come on stage until 11:00, but it was definitely worth the wait. It was an awesome show. They are even better live.

Ah, they had two opening bands and they were both totally different and awesome. Of course Cage the Elephant was energetic and amazing. The lead singer crowd surfed twice, claiming that he felt like Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer and wanted to join in on the Reindeer games. hahaha

by Lissa227 on 11/22/09Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Cage the Elephant was great! High energy all the way! The crowd loved them and they loved the crowd. The lead singer reminded me of a young Mick Jagger. The guitarists and the drummer were fantastic.

If you want to see a great live punk rock performance go see Cage the Elephant. Matt Schultz is an incredible frontman and the whole band is tight. This is the best punk band since Nirvana.

Cage the Elephant does it right

by bananabo25 on 11/15/09Beaumont Club - Kansas City

Before the show I was reading a critic's review of Cage the Elephant on their website. The critic said that frontman Matt Schultz had unbelievable stage energy. When i got to the show I thought the critic may have been exaggerating a little, until the very end. Matt stage dived at least ten times in the first four songs and was constantly running around stage. By the end of their sat, I remember thinking they were really good, but his energy level wasn't where i thought it would be. Then came the encore. Matt and the rest of Cage the Elephant ran back on stage singing In One Ear. During this song Matt launched himself into the crowd for probably the twentieth time. This time he stood straight up n the people's hands and walked across the to the rafts. He the grabbed on, swung his legs up and hung from the rafters by his legs while he sang. You couldn't even hear the music people were screaming so loud. It was incredible. The opening acts left a little (well, a lot) to be desired. The rest of the band also looked pretty stiff during the whole thing.
