CABINET IN CONCERT:
Cabinet has been serving up their unique take on Pennsylvania bluegrass since 2006, treating fans across the country to music that's as playful and adventurous as it is rooted in tradition. Folksy, country-tinged tunes like "Heavy Rain" and "The Tower" are brimming with energetic percussion, impressive banjo fingerpicking, and catchy fiddle riffs, providing the perfect musical backdrop to the band's Americana-inspired tales of country life. This is music for stomping your boots to, and Cabinet never fails to deliver with their rollicking performances on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Cabinet was formed in Pennsylvania in 2006 by a group of musicians hailing from diverse backgrounds that included country, folk, and -- of course -- bluegrass. They released their self-titled debut later that year and attracted the attention of Ropeadope Records, which re-released the record along with a trio of live albums that followed. The first of those -- This Is Cabinet - Set I -- showcased their infectious live energy and knack for blending country and bluegrass elements. The second release -- This is Cabinet - Covers -- followed in 2011, and in 2013 the band dropped This is Cabinet - Set II. Along with these live offerings, the band has released several studio albums including 2012's Leap, which was recorded over four days in front of a live studio audience. Passionate and genuine performers known for pushing the boundaries of bluegrass while remaining rooted in its traditions, Cabinet continues to captivate with down-home performances on tour.
Its sad to see them play there last show!! They rocked the show!!!
Well played! Once again! On my feet from beginning to end, body full of emotions; from excitement, joy, happiness, heartache, fulfillment and so on! So blessed to be part of this night and the journey Cabinet has taken me on, they hold a special place in my bouncing soul! Thanks guys, for an amazing ride over the years! Keep truckin’
Every time i make the trek to see this band i am always left in such naturally high spirits i feel lke i could just float right out of town and happily live life following them around from town to town punch drunk on the mandolin grin and slide key lifestyle ... they bring the good clean fun and pure energy to every show ...
Best bluegrass band ever! I drove from ct for this show. 3rd year in a row at this venue but this time inside. Kinda liked better in chandelier lobby but they sell that out. Music is very well done sound and lyrics!!
absolutely love them! always high energy and fun!!
If you haven't seen this band yet I suggest you do immediately. Incredible musicianship, chill vibe and high energy felon from start to finish. Love these boys. Love cabinet!!!
Great show! Billy Strings was unbelievable too. Seamless with Tom Graham. Kopec was a lot of fun at the pre-party too. A lot of preparation went into this special show. The Sherman staff was friendly and the venue is a fun place to see a show. Sherman did run out of the IPA, but I guess they are t use to a raging crowd like Cab Fam. Cabinet is the best!
Total disappointment. I've seen Cabinet many times before this show. Cabinet used to be a fun, high enery, bluegrass band and what I saw on Halloween was a pop country band. I didn't drive an hour to stand around and listen to slow whiny songs. The whole crowd was bored. The only time people danced was when they played honky tonky get down bluegrass. By the end of the night, there were so many empty spaces because people had left. You'd think they'd be able to tell people were bored and LEAVING and maybe change it up, but nope. Thanks for nothing cabinet, you've lost many fans. Best part of the night was heading back to the hotel.
One of the best live acts around in a fantastic venue !
Cabinet never dissapoints! Endless hours of pickin' and jamming. These boys kill it
From start to finish cabinet came out and jammed, the entire show was great the Kirby was a neat place to see a show
This was an awesome two night, sold out, celebration. This band has always been talented, but seem to have really hit their stride. Two nights, 4 sets, and no duplicate songs! Tasty and affordable drink specials were a nice touch too. Friendly atmosphere with the fans. High energy!
Especially with having an at times mediocre crowd, the acoustic sets were spectacular, and the individual performances by each were only topped by the Werewolves of London encore.
The band had already started playing by the time I got there, but boy did I walk in on a party! I've seen Cabinet a dozen times, and they never let me down. Altogether it was a great show, the crowd was enthusiastic as always and the music was spot on. I feel like they could've incorporated more Halloween elements into the show, but it is what it is. Afterwards, I went to the merch table and was able to get Mickey to sign my Halloween costume, and JP to get me a poster and a t-shirt. They're so accessible and I love it.
Do you like Bluegrass? I do and I just saw Cabinet perform this past weekend. Do you listen to the Avett Brothers? Cabinet is just as versatile and talented. Their sound is true to Appalachia, the instrumentation is amazing and they play from their souls. They love their music, love to share it and their audience returns that love. I feel anyone who experiences a concert of theirs will become a Cabinet follower. Join them you will be so glad you did.
Cabinet is probably the best local music that we have heard thus far. They have taken traditional folk/bluegrass outside the box and paired it with influences of the Doors and Pink Floyd, Dave Matthews Band, etc. The Sherman Theater is a great venue; if tickets are general admission you can sit in seating on either side of the theater, or stand/dance in the center section. For a sold out show, I did not wait more than 10 minutes to get into the bathroom, or to get a drink. Highly recommend both Cabinet and the Sherman!
The music was fine and I found some new bands. The venue itself is nice, but the prices are outrageous. The only non-alcoholic drink options are soda- 4.50 for a small bottle or $8 for a large cup or a small $6-7 iced tea. A food vendor was selling good lemonade, but they were told to stop. Water was 4.50. We were thinking about going to Peach Fest, but the high prices were just a huge turnoff. My husband got a cup of beer for less than the soda. I can see myself dehydrating at a multi-day fest at this venue because I couldn't bring myself to spend that much on soda and water. The bathrooms were plentiful and clean.
