    Mediocre Blues

by CHBL3 on 9/13/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Great venue, poor arrangement, mediocre Lavette. Should have been located in an outdoor arena with the line-up of performers. In a reserved seat setting with dim lighting it's difficult to move around and the schedule was for 5 hours of performances. Or just make it an indoor concert with a couple of acts. Buddy Guy is still full of energy. Would have liked to hear more of his music and not Jimmy Hendrix's, and Eric Clapton's. We get you are fellow guitar virtuosos. Bettye Lavette was underwhelming. She sang for two presidents? Why?

Incredible show. Two veteran performers showing the younger crew how its done. Probably the best show I have seen so far this year.

    Buddy, turn it down!

by RogerJr on 9/13/10DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Wild Magnolias were magnificent, and the highlight of the show. Bettye Lavette ran a very, very close second and came up with quite a variety of songs for a "blues" show. Buddy Guy was probably wonderful, but he was about three times as loud as he needed to be, to the point that it was painful. Maybe he's suffered too much hearing loss over the course of his long career. Turn it down, Buddy!
